Lock, Stock, and Spank Her by R. Brennan: After a bad relationship with a cheating
ex-dominant, Beth Turner has been reluctant to jump back into the D/s dating
scene. Her best friend, Marcy, who just happens to be a lifestyle mistress,
finally convinces Beth to take the plunge and attend a local fetish munch as
her guest.
Beth plans to take it slow, and certainly doesn’t expect to run into the ultra-dominant Alexander Sterling, whose
BDSM inventions are the stuff of local legend. Yet,
somehow, he manages to convince her to be the test subject in his
spanking demonstration. Strapped into his newest invention, Beth learns quickly
there is more to him than a sexy, shaved head and form-fitting leather pants.
In fact, Alexander Sterling just may be her masterful perfect
match.
Welcome Rebecca! Unlike fellow author
Doris, who I had to tie down to get some answers from, you're here of your
own free will and I believe ready to answer some questions. Let’s get down to
it!
First and
foremost, when did you start writing and why?
I
started writing in high school when I didn’t like the ending of one of the
historical romance novels I was reading. I decided I could write a better
ending than the author did, so I started writing. Of course, I didn’t do a
thing with the story I started way back then, and didn’t even write again
really until about 3 years ago. I took a Creative Writing class at the local
community college to fulfill some credit requirements and I was hooked. I’ve
been doing this writerly thing ever since.
What’s your
usual writing process like?
I wish I had more of a “process”. I would probably get
more writing done if I did. I work FT and have three children, so for me the
writing process involves closing myself off from everything for a few hours
whenever I can steal them and making sure I take full advantage of every bit of
it. No pressure or anything…
Do you ever
have to do any research for your books? Have you had to research something for
this piece? If yes, tell us a bit about it.
I write historical pieces under the name Rebecca Hart,
so I have had to do research for her stories, since they have that historical
element, but for Lock, Stock, and Spank
her, I didn’t really need to do any specific research. As a real life
submissive, most of the “research” I did for this particular story was
incidental to my experiences. I’ve attended munches and demonstrations before,
and I always wondered how the submissives did it. It has to take courage to get
up in front of a room full of strangers and have a dominant put you through
your paces with an audience.
The Crimson Rope is a BDSM anthology, what
attracts you about the world of Dominance and Submission?
I
find the whole idea of giving up control to someone else both fascinating and
beyond sexy. The trust necessary to maintain that sort of relationship is mind
boggling, and to be honest, participating in that kid of relationship is
totally rewarding. I really think D/s couples have a much more thorough
understanding of their partners than your standard vanilla couples. But, that’s
just one girl’s opinion.
Your story
in the anthology is called Lock, Stock, and Spank Her, where
did the inspiration come from for this story?
From
some of the munches and demonstrations I’ve attended over the years.
Why are
readers going to love Beth and Alexander?
Alexander
is just plain sexy. No if ands or buts there. It would be hard not to fall in
love with the shaved head, muscles and tattoos, even if he didn’t have a kind
heart locked beneath a sadist exterior.
I
think Beth’s appeal is in her normalness. She could be any one of us, well us
in the lifestyle. She’s been hurt like so many of us in her past relationship
and I think her journey toward a full recovery and the possibility of love is
something we all can route for.
And finally,
Nanowrimo- yes or no? Why?
Yes
and no. I am participating, but I don’t expect to complete the 50K words needed
to win. That being said, it does help my word count to at least give it the ole
college try. As for why? I’m a masochist, darling.
If yes, tell
us what’s a typical November Nanowrimo madness day for you.
I
don’t know what a typical day is…ever. Nanowrimo madness or not. I have my life
is super hectic regularly madness… or rather single parent-itis. I try to put
in at least an hour of writing each evening during Nano, but generally can’t
make that goal, so I tend to spend the weekends glued to my laptop trying to catch
up on what I fell behind on during the week. Yup. Madness covers it.
Cold
November…
A
book recommendation for November - Vanilla-Free Christmas (because the holidays are coming!)
One
thing about Fall that you love – My birthday comes in fall. Plus, living in upstate NY, you gotta love
the foliage.
One
thing about Fall that you hate – It means winter is coming…
The
earliest you’ll start getting ready for Christmas is… Somewhere around December 10th usually.
If you celebrate Thanksgiving share an
anecdote with us.
It isn’t Thanksgiving in the Hart household until the pickle plate comes
out. Without that, it’s just a dinner.
Author Bio: R. Brennan is a multi-published author or erotica and erotic romance. She’s a subbie brat with a bitch streak, an IT geek for the state of New York, and reformed gaming addict living in the rolling hills of Upstate NY. “For now, I have two questions for you.”
“All right.”
“First one is easy. What’s your name?”
Her cheeks heated. “Beth.”
He reached out a hand in greeting. “Alexander
Sterling. The pleasure is most assuredly mine.”
She placed her hand in his and he gave it a light
shake.
“Now that we have the formalities out of the way, my
dear Beth, it’s time for the second question. What are your limits?”
She cast a quick glance around the room to find what
felt like a million sets of eyes trained on them. “You want to know that now?”
“It’s relevant. Trust me.”
“Umm…” She searched her befuddled brain for a response.
“Blood, scat, needles, knives, permanent marks…the usual I guess. Oh, and
mummification.” She shivered. “I can get a bit claustrophobic.”
“Good.”
“It is?” She tried to keep her gaze from wandering
to the contraption resting on the parquet floor between them.
“Yes. I need your help. Will you help me?”
While she didn’t know him, and had only just met the
man, her body, her very soul seemed attuned to him. Her every nerve ending
responded to his request with a resounding yes.
Despite the little voice in the back of her head telling her she was a fool for
trusting a complete stranger, Beth whispered a meek, “Yes, Sir.”
“Good girl.” Alexander turned and faced their audience.
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, dominants and submissives. I want to thank
you all for allowing me to take up some of your valuable time. Master James and
his lovely submissive, Amy…” he waved a hand toward the table he had stopped at
earlier, “…have requested I give you all a demonstration of my newest invention
this evening. An item I am sure many of you will be very interested in seeing.”
Beth swallowed hard.
Demonstration?
Thank you so much for having me over today. I really enjoyed visiting with you :)
