#8Sunday #SexySnippets #WeekendWritingWarriors: Beauty in the Beast #fantasy #power

Happy Sunday, guys!

A new round of edits has been sent back for Beauty in the Beast. Release day shall be coming soon! Yay!

This will be the last snippet I will share until the actual novel is released. While you wait, why not ready the previous books in the series? *wink*
In previous weeks, Christopher and Morgana have been discussing power and humanity. In last week's snippet trouble was brewing as Christopher set his plan in motion. However, Morgana's reaction might not be what he expected...

Edits have taken place to keep to WeWriWa guidelines.

“You don’t understand—”

“I understand perfectly, little one, and worry not, I’ll set you on your path and off you’ll go, but the horses need to rest for they cannot travel nonstop.”

“I— I see.” Her gaze darted from him to the window.

“Are you going to use a spell on me?

“Of course not, Mr. Bexley for if I were to do that, then I’d be going against my own principles. I am not going to do such a thing and lose my credibility.”

‘‘Credibility? Witches have none of that, little one.’

“I am not your usual witch, Mr. Bexley.”

Beauty in the Beast
Light will become shadow. Love will become hate. Good will become evil. The Darkness is here. There will be no escape.

Morgana Wiles has spent her life, alongside her mother, fighting against the arrival of the creature known as The Darkness. Unfortunately, neither of them were able to stop him and now he's here, ready to destroy all that is good in the world. Morgana must face him, but now that the time has come, she finds that things are not as simple. Her mother is gone, self-doubt is creeping in, and her visions are unclear. To make matters worse, a man with evil intent has entered her life and is bent on complicating her mission. Will she be able to resist him in time to fight The Darkness or will she succumb and become that which she despises?

Christopher Bexley is no gentleman. He enjoys trickery, deceit, mischief and above all seduction. Sexual intercourse is the greatest source of power there is or at least there was, until he heard about the Gem. Now that he has discovered there's a stone that can make him the most powerful magic user of all time, he must have it. The only problem is that the only other person that might know where it is, is a stickler for rules and being good. Morgana is too innocent for his liking, and there's only one thing he can do to change that: corrupt her.

Author Spotlight #TNTConfidential on Elodie Parkes and Heat In Chains

Heart in Chains, Elodie Parkes, Encompass Ink, April 23, 2016 release
MM erotic romance/ suspense

I so enjoyed writing ‘Heart in Chains’. I’d just written, MM romance, ‘A Forever Kind of Thing’ for an Encompass Ink anthology to be released later this year and I was still in MM story writing mode.

Connor and Jay my heroes just gelled in my mind immediately as I considered the kind of adventure Connor might have on vacation in an exotic place such as Indonesia. Jay is a mysterious character, tough, driven, but on the verge of changing his dangerous life when he meets Connor. Connor is still getting over a relationship break up, but it’s been long enough and he’s tired of being single. His former boyfriend’s betrayal stays with him, but as soon as he sees Jay, attraction is seeded in his heart.

These two characters are dear to me. Tenderness lies beneath Jay’s composed and tough exterior and courage lies beneath Connor’s sexual vulnerability. I think both will surprise you as you read their story.

When Connor Douglas takes a tropical island holiday, he hopes to leave heartbreak behind. Little does he know the extent of the danger and sexual temptation that awaits him.
Long after Jay Levesque has closed down his operations on the very same tropical island, the memory of Connor haunts him.
Warm nights and scorching sex has someone’s heart in chains.

Read a teaser:
Darkness was falling as Jay arrived back with another man. They carried a tray each and the other man carried a stool. The other man left, but Jay smiled at Connor as he waited by the bed. Jay flipped a switch on the wall by the door and lit the place. Light streamed downward from the little white coolie-hat shade.

“Come, let’s eat.” He indicated the chair and sat on the stool himself.

Connor dragged his chain as he went to the table. He sat and took the cover off the plate of food. It looked good and the fish was already cut up, which was great since there was no knife, only a fork by his plate. He didn’t expect to be hungry, but after tasting the food, he ate almost all of it before he put down his fork and gave a sigh.

Jay ate slowly. When Connor stopped eating so did he and he placed his fork on the tray.
“It’s good to see you eat. Kiku, the man who brought the food with me, is going to bring coffee. Tell me about yourself.”

Connor turned to face Jay. He felt better after eating. “I don’t get it. Why do you want to know? Why are you being kind?”

Jay frowned. “There’s no need not to be kind. Humor me. Tell me a little about yourself.”

Connor shrugged. “I’m a marine biologist. I’m on vacation. I needed something completely different in my life for a time. These islands seemed like a good idea, far away, warm, beautiful, and …” He stopped talking. What’s the point in this?

Jay pushed his dark hair back from his forehead and folded his arms. He smiled.
“Far away. From what, Connor? A love affair gone wrong I think.”

Connor looked down at the remains of his food in confusion. Did he really want to tell his captor about his heartbreak?
“Not that it’s anything to do with you, but yes … I guess.”

Before Connor could react or even know what was happening, Jay reached out a hand and slipped it around Connor’s head. He swooped on Connor’s mouth and kissed him.

The kiss was so unexpected and yet so delicious, Connor closed his eyes and let it happen. He drifted in the soft merge of Jay’s lips on his. The lingering pressure and the way Jay brought his other hand up to caress the back of Connor’s neck was addictive. Connor leaned into the embrace. His cock hardened. Tingles from the circle of Jay’s fingertips on his neck spread down his spine and made his ass feel melted. Thoughts left him. The only thing that mattered right then was the kiss, and he lifted his hands to hold Jay’s muscled shoulders and kiss him in return.

It was Jay who drew away from the kiss.

Connor leaned back in his chair then, shocked at his response.

Wednesday Brief: Why? #wednesdaybrief #writingprompt

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome back to another Wednesday Brief. A different brief for a different day, this one oriented toward medieval fantasy.

Enjoy and don't forget to visit the other briefers!

Why?

Aithian sat atop his throne, waiting. Soon, she would arrive and then, all hell would break lose. He gripped the sides of his chair, the worn down stone hardly made an indentation on his flesh. Not for the first time since he’d seen her, he wished he could grip his sword. He glanced toward the door on the far left. The doctors had advised him against it. His teeth ground against each other, the sound loud in his ears.

Everything had gone wrong the moment she walked into his life. She had been little more than another prize thrown into the bargain when he´d won over the castle. He would have been more than content to fuck her and kill her, but his friend and advisor, Jauel, had discovered that she was important. She had more lands and riches than her late husband. If he married her, he would possess all that and more. His people would be fed and clothed and prepared for the next battle.

She had accepted her fate with resignation and indifference. They had stood before the priest who had sanctified their matrimony and he´d taken her up to the royal bedroom to mark her as his. He still remembered her scent and taste. She´d been sweet as honey. He grinned. It had taken some coaxing but her passion eventually rivaled his.

For a while, all was well in the castle. Then, her brothers had come. Aithian frowned. His knuckles turned white against the dark chair. They´d foolishly attempted to storm the castle and take her away. That´s when he discovered her duplicity. He´d captured her family and killed them in front of her, one by one. He had Jauel hold her as he ran each of the men she loved through with his sword. Their blood splattered on her gown and her face but not once did she cry.

Aithian sighed. He´d heard her sobs later, on his way to their bedroom. He decided to give her a boon that night. No one could say he was ungentle. Yet, the Gods did not repay his kindness, instead they punished him. His right arm, his fighting arm, slowly started to lose strength. He was hardly able to grip his sword and lift it. She was there with him every step of the way. He swallowed. He had thought they had something special, that they had an understanding. Except, last night, he´d seen her slip something into the glass of water she offered him. The argument that ensued had sent her running.

The doors opened with a loud clang and a cool breeze swept through the hall. Aithian sat up straight. Guards, escorted her inside and harshly shoved her to the floor in front of him. She fell to her knees without a sound of protest.

“Look at me.”

As she did his heart beat increased its tattoo. Her brown eyes bore into his. There was no contempt, no anger, simply indescribable sadness. He swallowed, his mouth suddenly dry. His chest hurt. The deep seated pain one he´d never felt before. He pushed the emotions away.

“Where were you?”

J. J. Lore Bio:

J. J. Lore has been interested in the dashing men who roam outer space since she was transfixed by
Han Solo piloting the Millennium Falcon a long time ago in a theatre far, far away. Sadly, there is no way for her to join in the fun of intergalactic adventures unless she writes them, so that’s what she does whenever she isn’t taking care of the business of life. If you can’t find her typing madly on her sluggish keyboard, she’s probably poking around in a thrift store searching for the perfect pair of worn jeans or a vintage kachina bolo tie. These days she puts her anthropology degree to work when she whips up dishes from many different cultures, most of which benefit from a liberal dose of sriracha or a smear of green curry paste. Her favorite reading topics are costume history, epidemiology, and permaculture, all of which she’d like to work into a story if she’s suddenly overcome with a brilliant idea someday.

Teaser Excerpt:
Eidan had been enjoying himself immensely. Watching Teah’s outrage grow as her eyes sparkled and her cheeks flushed, had made him forget all about the bruises forming on his torso and the chill rain surrounding them with grim humidity. He hadn’t teased a pretty woman in far too long.
He’d taken advantage of her distraction and moved close to her, his body urging him to stay near, be as tactile as possible because everywhere he touched made him want more. She didn’t seem to be searching for an escape as she had upon their earlier acquaintance, but that might be because she was so aggravated. She frowned, and he braced himself for a snappy comeback or perhaps even a push to move him out of her orbit. Instead, she reached out a hand and grasped his shoulder all while she rose up on her toes and pressed her mouth to his.
Shocked at her actions, he failed to react for a few beats. Such tender lips, so sweet. The unexpected caress had him reeling, so when she drew back, still frowning, he took only a moment to decide return the gesture, and he wouldn’t be nearly so chaste about it.
“See, I can be—”
He stopped her protest with a kiss of his own, circling one of his hands around the back of her head as he allowed the other to drop to her waist as he took over. With only a few nudging encouragements, she’d opened her mouth to him, allowing him to taste her, tease with his tongue in a new way as she quivered in his grasp. With a pent-up little moan she leaned against him, her breasts firmly pressed to his chest. His cock, which had been on alert since he’d first touched Teah, now sprang to near-painful attention.
Teah kissed him back, her little nips and licks the only encouragement he needed to lift her up and press her against the wall of the building sheltering them. He grabbed at her thighs and pulled them around his waist even as he ground his hips into her, his thickened cock sliding along the plump flesh between her legs. All the residual adrenaline from the fight ignited in his veins as he allowed sexual energy build between them. He wished he’d removed his damned gloves so he could finally grasp some of her curves.
She made a soft sound deep in her throat and clutched harder at his shoulders, her tongue teasing his then retreating to the safety of her mouth. He followed with a foray of his own and her whole body softened against his as he thrust his tongue inside her. A sudden flash of awareness filled him: Teah would melt against him when he penetrated her. She was incredibly responsive and he was certain when they finally had intercourse, it would be a fulfilling encounter. The way she suddenly clamped her thighs around him and rocked her pussy against the ridge of his cock only confirmed it.
The sudden chirrup of his alarm startled him, and he pulled away from Teah’s succulent lips, the need to return to duty overriding arousal in a painful snap. Teah’s head fell back and she blinked groggily as he answered his comm link summons. An emergency required as much of his attention he could provide even though he was in the middle of foreplay.
“Hey, Eidan! How’d the fight go?” His sister’s voice rang out in a cheerful query, and he winced. No emergency, just inopportune curiosity.
“I won.”
At his brief answer, Teah focused on him, then glanced down their tightly entwined bodies. A deeper blush rose up her cheeks, and she pressed at his forearms and wriggled her legs. Her movements were quite stimulating—everything about her was stimulating in fact, but it was clear she was trying to escape him yet again. In response, he tightened his grip on her full buttocks and she let out a tiny squeal.
“What was that? Are you still at the location? Do you need me to escort you out?”
“No.” He included Teah in that denial. She was staying exactly where she was. The woman in his arms sucked in a breath and pushed at his chest. He flinched because she happened to compress a new bruise and he almost lost his grip on her. She took advantage of his divided attention and kicked her legs. His cock appreciated the rhythmic motion.
“Let me down,” she whispered with a scowl.
“Who was that?” Brida asked quickly. No longer willing to put up with eavesdropping, Eidan reluctantly removed one of his hands from the lush curve of Teah’s ass and hit private link on the comm. Now his sister wouldn’t be able to hear anything but his voice. As soon as he let go of her, Teah struggled in earnest and with an agile twist she was free, ducking under his arm as he reached for her.
“Was there anything else?” he asked as he followed Teah along the walk. She picked up the pace, and he allowed himself the luxury of watching her hips sway.
“Not really. Just checking in to make sure my little brother hadn’t gotten his skull cracked open by some smelly human savage.”
At these words, Teah spun around suddenly, a thunderous frown on her face. “Smelly human savage?”
“You’re not a savage,” Eidan tried to reassure her, though the idea of Teah sinking her teeth into him as they engaged in a naked tussle definitely brought out the primal in him.
“Who’s a savage?” Brida asked.
“No one’s a savage.” He nearly shouted it, frustrated that Teah wasn’t touching him and that his sister had used such a derogatory term so openly. Yes, they had joked about how primitive human society seemed, but it wouldn’t do to entertain even superficial judgments now that they were here among their new constituents. “Brida, I’m signing off.”
With a jerk of his hands he shut off the link and faced his peeved human.
“Don’t even think it.” Teah warned him off with a raised hand. She shuffled backward and eyed him like he was armed and dangerous.
“You don’t know what I’m thinking.” Eidan knew it was a lie, the bulge in his trousers clearly advertising what he was after.
