TnT Confidential: Kacey Hammell and Sweetest Splendor

Welcome friends! Today I have with me the lovely Kacey Hammell, introducing us to her sexy club with her latest release Sweetest Splendor. Read on to find out more about her and this delicious tale.

Welcome back to In A Dream Beyond, Kacey! It’s always a pleasure to have you and your steamy reads over.

Thanks so much! Thank you for having me.

Tell us about your latest release, what is your favorite line from this novel?

Oh there are many. Both characters are very vocal. *g* I love this line though – always gives me a shiver when a man is so passionate -- “We’ve been friends a long time, Bridget, but you know what? I want more.” He ran his lips along her neck, warming her skin until they reached her ear. “Tell me what turns you on,” he whispered, then captured her earlobe in his teeth.

Where did the inspiration for this story come from?

Readers. I received four emails from readers after the first book, Sweetest Salvation released. They wanted to know if there would be more books about those particular characters from that story or if there would be more about the club. I hadn’t really considered it but after their emails, it sounded like a great idea to me. LOL

Why are we going to love the characters from this piece?

I think their friendship is what really livens up the story. Bridget and Zander have suppressed their feelings for one another so long, and with the strength of their friendship already built, it’s a hard yet easy transition for them.

What was the writing process for this novel like? You mentioned in an earlier interview that the beginning is always the hardest part of writing for you- was that the case in this book?

Yes, the beginning is always the hardest for me. I’ve been known to write a story from the middle straight through the end without having a beginning. So that process with some stories is hard. With Sweetest Splendor, it was showing the transition from friends to lovers with precision and doing their story justice. I wanted to reveal what strengthens the characters and makes them perfect for one another. To show a chemistry between characters that resonates and speaks honestly can be difficult.

Nanowrimo- yes or no? Why?

Not this year, no. I was in the hooks of a WIP that wouldn’t be done on time and I wanted to concentrate solely on that piece.

What can readers expect next from you?

I have two stories coming out at Ellora’s Cave next year some time. And I’m working on 4 other WIPs, as well as another short Revved and Ready story. A lot in the percolator for sure. LOL

Cold November…
A book recommendation for November – Thankless in Death by JD Robb& Her Deviant Lord by Layna Pimentel

One thing about Fall that you love – The colours. I was married in October with a fall wedding. Love Fall.

One thing about Fall that you hate – how slick the wet leaves are on the road. Makes for some treacherous driving sometimes.

The earliest you’ll start getting ready for Christmas is… I’ve started shopping already – always begin that in July or August. I’ll start decorating the house on Dec. 1.

If you celebrate Thanksgiving share an anecdote with us.

We celebrate Thanksgiving in October here in Canada, and my Uncle is the jokester of my family. He’s a gem among men and always has something funny to tell us, a joke to share or a memory of childhood (usually featuring my Mom) that is so ridiculous it’s crazy to think it happened. But this past Thanksgiving, he was armed and ready with many jokes.
Here’s my fave…

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, 'Do these turkeys get any bigger?'
The stock boy answered, 'No ma'am, they're dead.'

LOL !! :D

“I know following your dreams is important to you, Bridget. I’m happy for you.” Zander sidled closer, and massaged her stiff shoulders.

“Thank you. I know you are. It’s just—” she swallowed past the lump in her throat. “It is hard to think of leaving. I love this job. I’ll miss it.”

“You’ll miss me more though, right?” His light tone lifted her mood.

She laughed. “Of course. Who else will I get to boss around?”

He chuckled and pulled her in to his chest, aligning her against his stomach. Her breath hitched as his arms wrapped around her waist and squeezed her tight. Her nipples tingled and her heart rate accelerated.
Being this close to him, his long body behind her, the dreams she had about a moment like this…. She wished she could turn in his arms, press her lips to his and see where it led. But their friendship meant a lot to her. The fun flirting and teasing had never gone to the next level, but no other man in her life affected her more.
And now they would no longer be working together…but she wasn’t sure how deep his feelings for her ran.

“Damn, you smell good. What is that you’re wearing?” Zander asked, his face buried in her neck.

“Umm, something berry I guess.” Her words sounded breathless even to her own ears. He never held her like this before. She shivered.

“You cold?” He ran his palms over her stomach, then his arms tightened around her.

She shook her head, speechless, about to melt into a puddle at his feet. Relaxing into his embrace, she aligned with his front. “Zander--”

“You know I’ve always wondered something about you,” he murmured.

“What’s that?” she questioned, mouth dry.

“If any of what happens around this place excites you,” he whispered against her neck.

She reclined her head on his shoulder, sighing. Could she confess her inner most thoughts to him?

The air in the room heightened at least twenty degrees. The fire in her belly spread along her limbs to her fingertips. “Why is that important to you?”

Clasping her hands in his, he rasped, “I’ve always had the desire to know what makes you tick. I’ve watched you a long time, secretly wanting to know more about you. Finding reasons to be close to you.”

Excitement slithered along her body, her heart nearly leaping from her chest.

“We’ve been friends a long time, Bridget, but you know what? I want more.” He ran his lips along her neck, warming her skin until they reached her ear. “Tell me what turns you on,” he whispered, then captured her earlobe in his teeth.
