How has your week been? I would say mine was productive but Microsoft Word decided to destroy about 3 hours of my work and I haven't been able to recover from the shock yet.
In any case, I'm continuing with the story from the previous weeks. In previous posts we saw that Kaila was in front of a Sin's door, staring in horror at the grotesque depictions. She's down there because she needs to access into his lair to save her sister. She was about to go in when she was interrupted by a mysterious and very annoying "Guardian."

“So
what do you want?” she asked.
“Nothing much. I noticed you were staring at Sloth’s pretty door and was wondering what exactly you’re doing here. It’s fine art, but nothing humans can’t do just as well.”

And
there was the jab indicating that she should be on Earth and not here. Kaila
sighed.
“I’m
on a mission that’s none of your fucking business.”
“Well
baby girl, technically you’re about to enter my domain, not to mention Sloth’s
there, and you can’t. You know the rules, Kaila, babe.” “Fuck the rules."

Oh, I like her. And him.
ReplyDeleteShe's spunky and I like it! Great snippet this week.
ReplyDeleteHaha, is he trying to set her off with all the "babe/baby" talk? It just might work! They've got a fun dynamic.
ReplyDeleteI like her spirit! She's not going to be won over by a few sweet nothings.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your computer problems. Must be very upsetting.
Seems to be a few conflicts and misunderstandings going on here, which makes it all the more intriguing. I love the tone of the dialogue - great snippet. I totally commiserate about the 3 hours of lost work - oh noes!!!
ReplyDeleteQuite a kick-ass woman. Maybe this Guardian has met their match? Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteLove that last line. Rules are there to be broken, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteI sense that Kaila is under a lot of pressure. The profanity definitely serves a purpose here.
ReplyDeleteI like their verbal volley and it's obviously not their first set. Great snippet!
