I stopped working on the WIP I had started a few weeks ago because I got stuck and didn't like the way the story was going. So today I'm sharing a snippet from a novel I wrote a while back and which I'm editing to hopefully submit soon.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this story, momentarily titled, Under the love of Darkness.
Edits have taken place to keep to WeWriWa guidelines.

Kaila leaned against the grey stone wall and tried to catch her breath. She wiped at the beads of sweat gathering on her bangs and dripping over her eyes. She knew she shouldn’t have gotten this silly haircut. She immediately regretted the thought and fought against the tears that gathered at the back of her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Mel. I didn’t mean that.”
She closed her eyes for an instant, envisioning her sister’s bright blue eyes and dazzling smile. She’d done it for her. It’d been a while since she’d seen Melisa looking so happy, and she didn’t have the heart to say no and extinguish the light coming from within her. Like in the old times.
