Happy New Year! Candyce’s Sweet Surprise finale.

Greetings friends! Today is the last day of the year 2011! Wohoo! A lot of things have happened to me this past year. For instance:

- In February I decided to end a 6 year relationship

- My 13 year old dog, Lucky, passed away

- I studied, studied, studied and studied some more (and I'm still studying)

- I continued to develop the amazing friendship I have with author, Scarlett Knight

- In April I went on a road trip to the beach with my close friends and had an awesome time

- In August I got a new puppy because my other dog Ginger became very sad when her daddy passed away. Brego, the adorable black labrador became part of my small family.

- I released four different novels:

  • Dreams of Fate (Etopia Press);

  • A Decade of Longing (Evernight Publishing-- this was very special to me because it was my 2008 Nanowrimo project);

  • The Mercenary Knight (Evernight Publishing) and

  • The Uncertain List (Silver Publishing)

- I released my first audio book: Teaching Alisse (Silver Publishing)

- One of my novels, The Mercenary Knight, is an ARE bestseller- something which I never even dreamed possible and which still thrills me to no end :-)

- But, one of the most important things that has happened to me this year is that I've met some fantastic people along the way: readers, editors and authors like: Rie Langdon, Freddy MacKay, Alison Todd, Georgia Fox, Lorraine Nelson, Adonis Devereux, London Saint James, Annie Melton, Melissa Bell, Jennifer Fitzpatrick...

To all those I've met, to all those I know and have struggled with me throughout this year:

Thank you!

Thank you for your time and your company. I wish you all the best for this new year that is about to begin.

I hope everyone has a good time tonight :-) and As promised, here is the ending for Candyce's Sweet Surprise (read the beginning here!) which I started last Wednesday for Silver Flash day.

Hope you enjoy this little flash. :-) Have a great last day of the year and a fantastic beginning! Wishing you all the best!

Beware: this one is HOT

Candyce's Sweet Surprise

“We’ve been looking everywhere for you.”

Candyce swallowed hard. “Who, me?” She now had no doubts this was a dream. Men like those two stationed at the door to the bedroom did not go around looking for girls like her. Men like those either did not exist or were already hitched. She stared at them unbelieving. Both of them were tall, at least a good six feet something, wearing nothing more than short red robes. One of them was fair with green eyes, the other dark with matching eyes. While one was thin and lithe, with barely defined muscles, the other was thick and brawny, with bulging biceps. Both of them so appealing her body responded without preamble. Her nipples hardened under the thin material she was wearing and she tried to cross her arms before her chest, but the garment was so short that if she lifted her arms the men would get a good glimpse of her pubis. Finally, she decided to press her hands to her sides, in an effort to control her body’s excitement to the masculine beauties before her.

“Yes, of course, who else?” The first one spoke up. Her body churned. His voice was like honey or melted chocolate; white chocolate. Candyce smiled. She must have gotten drunk with the cherry liquor and hit her head.

“So, why were you looking for me?” she ventured.

Both men smiled at the same time. Their eyes glittered dangerously as they walked towards her.

“You know… the usual.” The fair-haired man spoke. His voice was husky, raspy, it reminded her of the feeling the liquor left on her throat. His pale eyes roamed over her body, hungrily. Her cheeks warmed.

“I—“

“Don’t mind him, cherie,” the dark haired one said. “He’s hungry.”

“And you’re not?”

“Yes, but I have manners, nonetheless.” Candyce stared from one to the other. “My name is Jasper and he’s Melker.”

“I’m Candyce.”

“We know,” Melker said. Candyce took in a sharp breath as one of his long fingers caressed her jaw. The pad of his thumb grazed her lips. Without knowing why, she opened up to him, taking the tip of his finger into her mouth. Her tongue shyly darted out, tasting the appendage. Cherry liquor. Strong hands wrapped themselves on her waist. She gasped audibly when she felt the thick hard member rest against her ass. She opened her mouth to speak but Melker pressed his lips to hers and she plunged with gusto into the ardent kiss. Hands, she didn’t know if Melker’s or Jaspers, slid over her breasts, stumbling over the erect nipple but not pausing to touch. Her breasts ached. She wanted to be touched. Again, the large hands travelled over her heavy breasts. She arched her back. Fingers pulled at her nipple and she moaned into Melker’s mouth.

“We’d thought you’d need more convincing. I’m glad we were wrong.” Jasper’s voice in her ear coupled with his warm breath, made her legs shake and her arousal soar.

Melker released her from his embrace. Taking a step back he shrugged off his robe. Candyce stared. Never in her life had she seen something so long and big and… her juices streamed down her thighs, her body clearly as keyed up at Melker’s male organ as her mind. Rough hands turned her over. Her jaw dropped. Melker was long but Jasper was thick. She looked up at him and he chuckled.
“Don’t worry, cherie, it will fit.” He bent over her and in one tug pulled off her negligee. Drawing her against him, his hands dipping to cup her ass, he whispered in her ear, “it always fits.” Candyce’s eyes widened but she barely had a moment to register his words before his mouth clamped on hers. Melker’s kiss had been arduous, passionate, hot; Jasper’s was soft, tender, branding.
Candyce jerked when Melker’s tongue swept across her folds. Jasper’s grip on her tightened. His hands on her ass massaged the round globes. In perfect timing, one of his fingers probed the entrance to her anus as Melker’s tongue delved into her cunt. She wanted to cry out in pleasure, but her pitiful moan of delight was swallowed by Jasper’s kiss.

The men created a rhythm that tormented her body. When one entered, the other pulled out. She rocked against them, the ache in her body so sharp she thought she’d cry. They’d never stay inside her enough, never fill her to completion, and never let her find satisfaction. She knew there were more than two fingers inside her at once; maybe three, maybe four, maybe even five. They probed, explored and opened her up for them. They made her body weep and sweat for them. They made her whimper, moan and beg and she enjoyed every minute of it, but enough was enough. She couldn’t take it anymore. She needed them inside her, pumping into her, giving her those delicious cocks to which fingers were no substitute.

“Please, Melker, please Jasper.” She begged for the hundredth time. Jasper looked up at her. He was suckling on her breasts, teasing the pink nubs, biting, licking, blowing on them until they ached.

She met his lidded stare. “Please.”

He nodded once and relief flowed through her.

“She’s more than ready, Melker.”

Melker stepped away from her and observed her with a cheeky smile. “She most certainly is.” He stroked his cock, spreading the glistening drops of precome that coated it. “But maybe, we could…” Placing a hand on her shoulder he pushed down. Candyce willingly fell to her knees. Without waiting, she eagerly took Melker’s cock into her mouth. Their moans reverberated loudly in the room. She lapped hungrily at the long member. A nudge made her glance upwards. The sight of Jasper’s fat cock met her. Hungrily, she took him into her mouth, opening wide to fit as much as him inside as possible. Greedily she sucked both men, palming their balls, licking from base to top and back again. She wanted to bring them to the edge of insanity as they had brought her. Her body rocked on it’s own volition searching for release as it brought both men to the brink.

“Enough, Candyce.” Jasper grabbed her under the arms, lifted her and threw her onto the four-poster bed. Lying back against the pillows he brought her to him, obliging her to straddle him. His cock was inches away from her hot pussy and she wanted nothing more than to sink into it, but he held her at bay.

“You will not come until we allow you, do you hear?” he threatened.

Candyce nodded. With a small smile, Jasper pulled her down, impaling her onto his cock. Both of them groaned loudly. She longed to move against him, to have him move inside of her, but the dark haired man was stock-still. A gasp escaped her lips as she felt Melker’s long, thin cock fill her anus. She trembled, trying to hold back the orgasm which fought so hard to explode as both men crammed themselves inside her body.

“Don’t,” Jasper warned.

She was barely able to nod, in fear that the slightest movement would trigger her. They were only seconds, but it was torture until Melker was fully inside her.

Jasper smiled. “Now, we fuck.”

Candyce gasped, and then screamed as both men moved at once, one entering, the other pushing further inside. She didn’t need much more. Her body reacted to the celestial feeling and as the men pushed and shoved, her climax hit her hard, milking the cocks nestled deep inside her. Barely a few seconds later the men grunted their release, their sperm shooting hard inside her.

Candyce opened her eyes. She trembled from head to toe. She looked around her. How? She was back at the storage room, the lights were on, but the old lady was nowhere to be seen.

“Sweety, sorry I had to leave you here. There was a customer upstairs. Are you alright?”

The old lady appeared from behind her, the red box of chocolate still in her hands, her warm smile in place.

Candyce shook her head. She felt clammy, feverish, unstable. Maybe the chocolate was bad?

She cleared her throat. “I, I think it’s the heat from the storage room. I better be going.”

Had it all been a dream? It couldn’t have been…but then again… She had barely reached for the door knob when the old lady called after her.

“Here, I think you dropped this downstairs.”

Candyce took the card. She stared hard at the white and red slip of paper.

With a shaking hand, she turned the card around. Scribbled in neat handwriting were the words: “Looking forward to seeing you at the New Year’s party, Candyce.” and underneath in a sloppy stance, “In the end, it always fits.”

Candyce looked up at the elderly woman who regarded her with a mischievous smile. “Thank you.”

Noelia winked. Candyce stored the card in her purse and walked out. She grinned as she started her way back home. Guess she would be going to that party, after all.

And a little excerpt...

Tristan slammed the car door shut and paused to look at the small town around him. An assortment of shops and apartment buildings lined the street. Through almost every window he could see Christmas decorations. Trees adorned in all manner of styles, from the most simple with plastic stars to the most embellished with gold and silver balls, matching tinsel, and fake snow, graced halls, living rooms, and shop fronts.

He took in a deep breath. A mixture of pine trees, burning wood, and delicious coffee assaulted his senses. His stomach growled, reminding him he hadn't had anything to eat for quite a while. He glanced at the paper in his hand. At the bottom of a row of crossed-out words, a name scribbled in fancy red ink stood out. Amy Donaldson. She was the last mission on his list. Hopefully, he'd be done quickly and be able to get back home for Christmas dinner. A couple strode by him and the smell of warm muffins reached his nostrils. His stomach growled again. Folding the list with Amy's name, he placed it on the inside of his thick winter coat and made up his mind. After all, there was nothing worse than starting a job on an empty stomach.

A bell chimed over his head as he entered the coffee house named Sugar, Ginger, and Spice. A delicious waft of ginger cookies and sugary sweets reached him, corroborating the shop's apt name. The only thing missing, from his point of view, was the touch of spice.

However, the remedy to that appeared in the form of a stunning coffee-serving clerk. He took in her looks as he strolled over to the counter. Compared to him, she wasn't very tall; her head would barely reach over his chin. Her short brown hair was fashioned in a cute pixie haircut with long, side-swept bangs, which highlighted her high cheekbones and large brown eyes. She wasn't too thin, but more on the plump side, just like he liked his women. There was nothing like holding on to a woman's ample hips in the throes of passion.

"What can I get you, sir?"

He was pleased to discover she had a sweet voice, too. Most likely, she participated in a choir or had done so when she was a child. He raised his eyes from her pretty face to stare at the billboard above. The little place certainly had a large assortment of cakes, muffins, cookies, coffees, and hot chocolates.

"What do you recommend, ummm..." He lowered his gaze to read the square tag placed over her heart. "Amy."

He looked up at her face again and was shocked to see the sign hovering on her forehead. How could he have missed it before? The black question mark with a sparkling white snowflake acting as a dot danced over her forehead like a luminous beacon. He must have been too distracted with her appearance to notice she was the last person on his list.

"If I may advise?"

Amy's sweet voice broke his thoughts. He realized he must have been foolishly staring at her for a few seconds and his cheeks warmed in embarrassment. Perhaps sensing his discomfort, Amy plowed on.

"The coffee with white chocolate tastes particularly good if you pair it with the vanilla cupcake."

She smiled at him, a pearly white smile full of innocence. How could this little fairy be on the Uncertain List? She clearly belonged to the Nice List. There must have been some sort of mistake.

"I'll give that a try, then."

Silver Flash Wednesday: Candyce's Sweet Surprise

Dear flash readers, in honor of the Christmas and New Year festivities, today’s flash has nothing to do with Damian and Amanda’s story. Initially, this was going to be a 1000 word story but I got a little carried away… so read on and come back on Saturday, December 31st for the continuation and ending of Candyce’s Sweet Surprise.

Hope you enjoy ;-)

Beware: This story includes a lot of sugar, Christmas magic and two very hot men.

Candyce’s Sweet Surprise.

Double your pleasure, double your fun with Madame Noelia’s special offer: Buy 2 pay 1

Candyce stopped in her tracks and stared at the words neatly scribbled in red and green chalk on the A-frame easel sign. Madame Noelia. She glanced at the store. She’d walked through this street everyday for the past 9 months and she had never noticed this place. Candyce didn’t understand how she could have missed it. The door and the window frame were painted in bright red, whilst the store sign was drawn in fancy white glittering letters.

However, even had she not noticed the flamboyant colors, she would have seen the display window. Her mouth watered as she stared at the vivacious assortment craft fully placed for everyone to see: Candy Canes, M&M’s, Twizzlers…
How long had it been since she’d treated herself to some good old calorie-full sweets? She’d been dieting to fit into her New Year’s dress for the past three months- and for what? Her date dumped her at the last minute with some lame excuse. Now she had a gorgeous dress but no one to celebrate with. She had consoled herself hoping that something magical would happen during Christmas but it had been the same old, same old.

Candyce sighed. Yeah, she definitely deserved a break. It was time to break her diet and enjoy that little pleasure of life called chocolate! Resolute, she pushed open the door. A bell chimed above her head and the smell of cinnamon, coupled with mint, caramel and gum assaulted her senses. Her mouth watered and her stomach churned. Yes, this was definitely what she needed to get over the Christmas blues. She looked around, unsure of where to start.

“I’d start with the caramel apples.”

Candyce jumped and turned towards the voice. Behind a large oak counter and an old cash-register machine stood a plump elderly lady with snow-white hair, round rimmed glasses and a warm smile.

“Although, correct me if I’m wrong, I believe you’re more of a chocolate enthusiast.”

Candyce nodded. “How did you--?”

“I know a chocolate lover when I see one,” the woman winked. “I think, my dear, I have the perfect thing for you. Come with me.”

“I—“

“Come on, I don’t bite,” the woman stepped from behind the counter and beckoned Candyce to follow her through a back door. “We only have one box left, that’s why it’ not on display, but it’s the best chocolate in town, I assure you…” The woman’s voice died off as she entered the chamber. Candyce took one last look at the street. What harm could an old lady do? Besides, if that chocolate was so good… Hurrying across the store she entered the storage room.

“Ma’am?”

“Back here.”

Candyce slowly took in the chamber. Barrel after barrel and box after box of sugar coated edibles were piled everywhere. The savory smell permeated everything. How anyone could work here and resist eating all of this, was beyond her comprehension.

“Ma’am?”“You may call me Noelia.”

Candyace started as the old lady materialized before her, a red velvet box in her hands. “I think you’re really going to like these.” She said, opening the package and pulling out a white bonbon. “White chocolate with cherry liquor inside; there’s nothing quite like them. Come on now, don’t be shy.”

Smiling, Candyce took the piece of chocolate and bit into it. Thick liquor dripped onto her tongue, mingling with the supple texture of the white chocolate. Candyce moaned. Hastily, she ate the rest of the bonbon, unwilling to waist a single drop. She closed her eyes in ecstasy as the full experience of the mixture hit her. She swallowed slowly, the liquor a soft burn in the back of her throat, immediately soothed by the sweet chocolate.

“Thank you, Noelia that was amazing.” Candyce opened her eyes to semi-darkness. She heard the door’s bell chime. Perhaps the elderly woman had heard a client and had hurried back upstairs, leaving her here, in the dark. A shiver ran down her spine. Noelia sure was fast for one so small. Candyce began to make her way across the dimly lit storage room, careful not to upset any of the neatly stacked boxes. She was almost at the door when she tripped on a badly placed barrel of gummy bears. Throwing her hands forward to stop herself from falling and the barrel from rolling away she fell into nothingness.

Air exploded out of her lungs as her back crashed against a yielding surface. She took in a shaky breath. What the hell had just happened? She had fallen through some sort of trap door into another chamber and onto a mattress. The room glowed with an outerwordly light. She glanced at the ceiling, looking for a source of light. Her jaw dropped. Directly above the bed was a black hole with colorful dancing lights. The rest of the ceiling was dotted in stars. Sitting up, Candyce tried to remain calm. She took in the rest of her surroundings. The bed was a four poster, the sheets red as wine, the posts red and white, resembling candy canes. There was no other furniture. Trembling, she slowly set her right foot on the floor. She sighed in pleasure as her foot sunk into a plush white carpet.

“What?”

Candyce looked down at herself. She was naked. No, not naked, but almost. She was barefoot, pantless, pantyless and braless. The only thing she was wearing was a red negligee that barely covered her ass. Fear cursed through her. Where was she and who had done this to her?

“You’re here.”

A deep masculine voice broke her thoughts. She turned around in alarm but the feeling vanished and was replaced with a strong current of desire as soon as she caught sight of the men.

To be continued...

She smiled at him, a pearly white smile full of innocence. How could this little fairy be on the Uncertain List? She clearly belonged to the Nice List. There must have been some sort of mistake.

"I'll give that a try, then."

"Will you be at a table or is it a takeout order?" she asked automatically.

Tristan regarded the place. The coffee house was not too full: a couple sat at a table, a group of girls chatted at another, and an elderly man read in an armchair. On a whim, he decided he would stay awhile.

"I'll have the order here."

"That will be six fifty, please."

He handed her the money and walked away to sit down at one of the empty tables near the window. He regarded the store more calmly. In a corner, there were a few worn-out couches, inviting people to bring a book and relax while enjoying their drinks. The rest of the room was furnished with round wooden tables and chairs made out of the same material. Each table held a small Christmas ornament with the day's menu. Tinsel and banners wishing everyone happy holidays decorated the walls. The windows were sprayed with fake snow to form the words Merry Christmas. Soft Christmas jazz music played through some speakers. Tristan smiled cheerfully. He was comfortable and at ease in the little coffee shop. It was almost like being home.

"Here you go, sir."

Amy bent over the table and placed his order. Her breast brushed against his arm and like a magnet to metal, his eyes were drawn to her exposed cleavage. His mouth watered. How could he have missed noticing such fine attributes before? His eyes lifted as the girl straightened up. With a smile and a knowing wink, she pointed at his coffee. She turned around and walked back to the counter, her hips swaying in an indecent manner that caused his cock to swell. He finally tore his eyes off her when he could no longer see her generous bottom. His stomach roared, reminding him he was hungry, and he switched his attention to the steaming cup before him. That's when he caught sight of the napkin next to his coffee. She had scribbled her name and her phone number on the paper. He looked up at Amy again and she smiled devilishly. Perhaps his job wasn't going to be as easy as he had thought.

Silver Flash Wednesday!

Greetings friends! Today's Silver Flash is really short,
it barely surpasses the Flash minimum of 500 words. Furthermore,
at the last minute, I almost decided not to participate on
today's flash. I have several University projects to turn in
before the Christmas Holidays and I'm not finding the time to
do anything at all! Be it write, read or even sleep properly =(
Add to all the class work, my part time job and Christmas
preparations (gift buying! I don't know when I'm going to buy
my gifts!)... and well, I'm stressed.

Nonetheless, here is today's little flash which continues Amanda
and Damian's story. After writing last week's (or was it the week
before last?) Flash, I had introduced Damian's point of view into
the story. All was good, except that that Thanksgiving party
had happened more than two years ago and Damian's point of view
had not been placed into the story before. Therefore, during this
chapter, you'll find that Damian is at Amanda's Grandmother's house,
right outside the door. He knows Amanda is in there and like her,
he's been remembering...

Today's prompts were:

Reese Dante joins us once again as our Guest Prompt Diva, with this: That came out of nowhere.

For alternative prompts:

springtime for Hitler or

use these three words: camp, Venice, ostrich or

incorporate a crossdresser into your story in some way

Untitled Chapter 6

Damian stood at the threshold, remembering that Thanksgiving party more than two years ago.
It had been a new beginning for them. They had started again and from that foundation a relationship had slowly taken shape. He still remembered the first time he had told Amanda he loved her...

Damian tugged on Amanda’s hand. As he settled onto the bench, he pulled her to him. Laughing, she fell onto his lap. He placed his arms around her and hugged her to him, inhaling the sweet smell of her perfume. He would never get tired of that subtle essence of vanilla. Lightly, he took her earlobe between his teeth. He would never tire of her taste. Her fingers entwined in his hair and her breathing grew labored as he sucked on the tender piece of skin. His fingers slightly grazed her breast and she swatted playfully at his hand. Laughing, she pulled away from his embrace.
"We're in public," she protested, indicating with a nod of her head their surroundings. Damian raised his eyebrows at her and looked around. It was early autumn and the park was almost deserted, except for a few passerbies, too busy with their own affairs to notice a cuddling couple. "I dont see anyone.” Amanda titled her head and he smiled, recognizing the signs for when she was about to voice her disapproval on a certain matter. Before she could utter a word he claimed her mouth. She opened up almost instantly, her tongue delving out of its cave to dwell with his. Her hands, still in his hair, drew him closer, deepening their kiss. This time, she didn’t remover his hand when he palmed the sweet flesh of her breast. He squeezed lightly and something triggered inside him. A surge of emotion that came out of nowhere welled up inside him. Breaking their kiss, Damian gently grasped her chin and tilted her head to look into her eyes. "I love you, Amanda".

Her eyes darted back and forth, seizing him. She smiled, unbelieving. "That came out of nowhere."

"No, really," he insisted.

She nodded and placed her lips back over his, as if she didn’t want to hear what he had to say. For a moment, panic had gripped his heart. She didn’t love him back, she didn’t want him, but his fear was soothed and forgotten as their kiss grew in intensity and passion.

Damian stared at the white door. No, he never forgot. He doubted. For another six months, he doubted. Yes, that had been the day he’d told Amanda he loved her, but it had also been the day the seed of doubt had been planted.
Damian took in a deep breath. He should have known then, but he had made a mistake, and he had doubted. He hadn’t doubted her, no, he’d doubted himself, doubted his own feelings and destroyed their relationship. Now, more than two years later he stood at her Grandmother’s door, wondering if being there at all was a good idea and whether he should go back home and try to forget her for once and for all.

Six Sentence Sunday

Good morning everyone!!

How are you all? Ready for Christmas? I haven't decorated the house, sent cards or bought gifts, yet, but I've been listening almost non-stop to Christmas music all throughout the week. My mind is ready for Christmas! I just haven't found the time to do the physicall stuff.

Anyhow, since I'm in such a Christmassy mood and tomorrow is the release date for the Audio Version of my novella "Teaching Alisse" (Silver Publishing), today's Six Sentences belong to that story...

The radio played Christmas Wonderland. Who the hell played Christmas carols in the middle of the night? She flopped onto the pillow and covered her ears with it, trying to dull the sound.

"Oh no, you don't."

Before she could react, the pillow was ripped from her hands. Startled, she sat up.

As always, don't forget to visit the Six Sentence flashes from those other great authors out there!

Tanya smiled in earnest. “I thank you, my lord, but there is no need to call me a lady, for I am not one.”
As soon as the words had spilled from her lips, Tanya knew she shouldn’t have mentioned it.
She cursed herself. What had prompted her to tell these four men that she was no lady, no virginal maiden?

"What was your occupation before?" Johann asked.

Author Spotlight on... Jillian Kid

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Today I'm offering you something a little different: an interview with talented author Jillian Kid!

Jillian just released her first book "Vengeful Bounty". Beware, in it you will encounter a sexy heroine, danger, action and a hot musician with more than music on his mind ;-)

In the year 2053, Dallas bounty hunter Mina Maxwell’s goal is to reach Global status, and she is only three catches away from the needed 25. During one of her hunts, she lets criminal Roberto Franco go in order to capture his higher-ranking boss. It is a mistake that will come back to haunt her.

As she continues on toward her goal, she battles with the demons of her past, among them being Damon Wolfe, her Global bounty hunter lover who left her without explanation. Attempting to heal the damage is Mina’s good friend, musician Jackson Kincade, who has been hinting at taking their friendship to the next level if she will let him.

All hope for the future shatters when Roberto returns, hunts her down and kidnaps her. His plan: weaken her body and crush her spirit so he can sell her to the highest bidder.

Excerpt:

“You trust my driving, right?” Colt asked.

His eyes darted to my hand that I kept floating above the door bar in case I needed to grab hold. The digital speedometer topped 80 mph.

“Sure, I do,” I said. “I just don’t trust everyone else on the road. Speed limit’s 60.”

“Hah! That’s for tourists.”

Colt loved his cars. But his 2008 Dodge Charger was his baby. I wish I could tell you how much he spent on revamping the 45-year-old vehicle to have hover capabilities, and how much he spent daily on speakers and paint jobs and transparent technology and whatever else he’s done to it, but I probably couldn’t do the math. Math never was my strong point.

Bounty hunting was.

Although Colt did his share of going after the “Bad Fish,” it wasn’t a full-time career for him like it was for me; it was more of his hobby—an extremely dangerous, adrenaline-pumping hobby that just happened to be my full-time job and the love of my life (love of my life except for maybe homemade chocolate lava cake, which, I have to say to you lonely, single men that might be wondering, is most definitely the way to a woman’s heart).

A Scorpions’ song came on the classic oldies station and Colt cranked up the volume until I felt the bass and drums vibrate ass-kicking energy through my body, readying me for action. As soon as the lyrics crashed in, Colt sang with them at perfect, ridiculously loud pitch. I couldn’t help it; I cracked up with delight and relaxed.

His hair changed about every time I saw him. Tonight it was purple and flying everywhere like some midnight elf’s mane from some classic fantasy novel. His eyes were a similar shade of violet; he enjoyed switching out different colored contacts almost as much as he changed his hair. He tapped the steering wheel and belted out all the rockin’ wails while I grabbed the door handle a little tighter and the evening Dallas lights whizzed by out the window. Colt tends to drive faster depending on the speed of the song. I swear the man is hard-wired to music.

An old 2022 Buick with wheels held us up and we slowed from 80 mph to about 40. As if the tires weren’t a dead giveaway, the wheelchair symbol on the license plate made Colt groan.

“All right, wrinkles, if you aren’t going to drive, then get off the highway!” he said. “The law really should outlaw wheels.”

“Come on, now. Granddad still drives wheels,” I said. “It makes the older generation feel safe.”

“It’s not safe. They get flats. They’re totally grounded. Stupid wheels.”

He opened his mouth and matched the song’s wild wailing vocals as he flipped the Charger’s up signal switch and checked the mirror on the dash that would reveal any hover vehicles that might be above us in a blind spot. Clear and good to go.

With his heel he pressed the elevation pedal that stuck out from under his seat like a metal tongue and up we went, over the slow car, and down in front of it, hovering the five legal inches above the road.

“Few miles and we’ll be there,” Colt said, taking the exit to the right.

I nodded, getting focused on the task at hand mentally and emotionally.

Tonight’s Bad Fish was Nando Gutierrez. He headed the Texas branch of a national organization called “The Flowers of Eden.” Nando was what we bounty hunters liked to call an “Octopus,” meaning the type of criminal who has a lot of hands that kidnap for him. This Octopus’s prey happened to be young beautiful women, whom he hooked and kept on a steady stream of drugs, and then sold to the richest pervert bidder.

But like most criminals, Nando had gotten careless. He liked to frequent the dance clubs in the Metroplex, and he’d put enough of his trust in people he thought he could buy off to keep his whereabouts a secret. Luckily for us, one of the people he’d paid was Colt’s long-time friend Aaron.

Aaron worked at The Den of Iniquity, or as the club-frequents called it: “Sin Den.” He got an extra $5,000 ahead of time in his bi-weekly paycheck if he would keep mum about Nando’s occasional visit. And if the money wasn’t enough of a motivator, the threat to kill him should have been.

But fearing death wasn’t in Aaron’s nature (one couldn’t be afraid of anything and still remain friends with my brother), and besides that, he had plans to quit his job tomorrow and disappear. How timely! Apparently he was tired of Dallas and wanted to move north.

“Where’s Aaron going again?” I asked.

“Canada.”

“He need any help changing his identity?”

“Nope. Got it covered.”

The song gave way to a commercial:

“Be the first in line to order your new incinerator. Available at all House Aid stores now for only $399.99. This new model from Hoover is guaranteed to be safe for children and has updated organic-safety sensors that prevent accidental burns.”

I crossed my arms and took a deep breath. I glanced at Colt, whose brow was now furrowed in thought. The collar of his red plastic flex-wear jacket was flipped up, but I could still tell from the little twitches of his mouth that he was chewing on the inside of his cheek, just like he did when he was a little boy and deep in thought.

“Are you sure about this?” I asked. “Does he know what could happen?”

Colt gave me a look. “He knows.”

“And you’re sure we can trust him?”

“Yep.”

“He’s really moving to Canada?”

“Mina! Trust me. You’ve got to trust people.”

“I do, I just don’t trust people I don’t know. And sometimes I don’t trust people I do know.”

I love your cover, Jillian! Mina seems like a hot chick ready for action. Tell us a bit more about her and your work.

What song would you recommend for listening while reading Vengeful Bounty?

I'd say, pick your favorite rock band, and play one of your favorite songs of theirs. Mina, the main character, loves rock music, especially classic rock.

Describe the main characters of Vengeful Bounty in one word:

Cool

What was your inspiration for this story?

I wanted to do something from a heroine's point of view, kind of like in the Anita Blake series, and I also wanted to do something that hasn't overly been done, so instead of a policewoman, I made her a bounty hunter.

What are your favorite reading genres?

Oh, everything. And I do mean everything. I read biographies, fantasy, sci-fi, true crime, romance, horror—you name it and I probably read it.

Vengeful Bounty is labeled as a Science Fiction story- is this your writing niche? What other genres do you see yourself writing?

I don't know if it'll be my one niche. I enjoy writing things that entail a little more wild creativity, such as sci-fi and fantasy and horror. But I enjoy blending genres, too, which I think I've done a bit with Vengeful Bounty.

What are some of your favorite authors?

Ah, hard one! I have so many. A few are Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Laurell K. Hamilton, Stephen King, George R.R. Martin, and Nora Roberts… I really could go on and on. Oh—and Elyzabeth M. VaLey, of course.

LOL thanks

What is your favorite time of day for writing?

Probably between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The moon is usually out, and the nightly creative vibes start up around then.

Where is your favorite place for writing?

In a house with no distractions, sitting in a comfy chair with my laptop on my lap

Name one of your pet peeves and explain why?

When people say they're going to do something and then don't follow through, that bothers me. A lot of people aren't good for their word anymore, and that's really unfortunate. Mean what you say, folks!

The Christmas Holidays are almost upon us: What do you like best and least about them?

I love the chilly weather and darker evenings, which is perfect for reading and writing and enjoying some hot chocolate, coffee, or tea. I don't love the pressure people put on one another to spend every dime they have on presents, though!

What are you currently working on?

I just finished editing a book that I wrote in college, and I'm considering submitting it to a few publishers or agents if I feel the timing's right. I'm also jotting down some notes for the sequel to Vengeful Bounty…
