“Yet, you requested me for the mission.”

“What?” she squealed.

“Aslan told me.”

“That’s not how it happened. It has nothing to do with us, I would have requested another but—”

“But, Pru?”

Her head pounded and she didn’t reply, trying to find a way to get out of the mess she had created. She could almost taste the savory sweetness of hope, stretching between them like an invisible lasso binding them together.

“Killian, you know we can’t be together,” she whispered at length.

I've been thinking about what new story to share with you guys. Not an easy decision. I've got several manuscripts I'm working on and have yet to decide what to focus on for Nanowrimo as well. With so much indecision, I've finally chosen a snippet from A Dragon's Heart, A Demon's Blood. Nothing like a snippet with a demon to get into the Halloweeny feeling that permeats the air. *wink*

Adrian Ormonde gazed at the woman before him: Zendaya, queen bitch of the demon kingdom. She was a remarkable sight––no mortal man could resist her, and few paranormal creatures could refuse her. When Zendaya posed her eyes on you, there was no escape.

As a psychologist on Earth she’d had to deal with Sloth’s victims countless times. Some were stronger and were able to rid themselves of his influence, but none ever returned the same. Once Sloth touched you… She wrapped her arms around herself, her thoughts immediately turning to her sister Melisa. She’d never forgive herself for missing it and ignoring his influence on her. She’d been so busy with others she’d failed to see what was occurring in front of her own nose. Kaila gritted her teeth. It’d be okay. That was why she was here. Today she was going to go in there and pull her sister out of Sloth’s clutches whatever the cost.
