Magic ~ #weekendwritingwarriors from Alpha Protectors 4 #paranormal #romance #alphaprotectors

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Today, I'm sharing a snippet from my current WIP, Alpha Protectors 4. I've moved to a different point of the story from last week's.

If you have not read the previous books, Inferum are the minions of the Sins. They are creatures which enter a human being's body and whisper evil things. When they're not inhabiting a body they're all around us, lurking, waiting for their next victim.

 Enjoy! XoXo,
Elyzabeth

Magic. She could sense it in the air, sizzling around her like dust particles. She looked around. The people around her seemed oblivious, but the Inferum in the shadows had started to run. It would have been comical if it weren’t so dangerous. They were running over each other in their haste to escape. Luckily, the Inferum trapped in human bodies had nowhere to run. If they left their host then they’d lose the soul and they would only encounter the same fate as those running away: the swords of the guardians in the other room.
The lights flickered and someone said something. They flickered again and she smiled.

  1. I could really sense the choas happening in this scene as she simply waited.

  2. I really love this snippet. I love the idea of the Inferum, too (even though my high school Latin wants the plural to be Infera), and I love the echo (intentional?) of Philip Pullman's Dust.

  4. The chaotic scene is well written. Her last line piqued my interest. She smiled? Say what?

  5. Wonderful world-building! You have a great mix of emotions in this snippet. Her slight smile makes me wonder what part she plays in all of this. Good writing!
