Gracelyn
Riley married a firefighter. She knew
that came with risks. But she never
imagined herself widowed in her early thirties with two children to care for on
her own.
As a
fireman, Matt Riley was at the scene when his brother, Chad, was killed. He suffered greatly from survivor’s guilt and
depression after the accident.
The last
year has been difficult for both Gracelyn and Matt. They’ve relied on each other to get through
the tough times. With the anniversary of
Chad’s death upon them, Gracelyn and Matt once again turn to each other for
comfort and support. They find it in
each other’s arms (and bed). Will their
desire for each other consume them? Can
they overcome the guilt and scrutiny to find love again…together?
Welcome to In
A Dream Beyond and TnT Confidential
Jessica! I have to
ask the question: When did you start writing and why?
Since I was
able to put letters together to form words and words together to form
sentences, I have been writing. I’ve
just always had an imagination and enjoyed putting it to paper. My early stories were adventurous kids’
tales. But as I got older, romance
seemed to permeate its way into my stories.
And now, here I am writing erotic romance tales and loving it! J
What’s your
favorite part of the writing process? And your least favorite?
I love
watching the characters come to life.
They live in my head for weeks and months… some even years… so to watch
them develop and interact as I write is amazing. I can honestly say that I’ve had story plots
in my head from time to time, but the characters never seem to mind putting me
in my place! They dictate the story they
want told and quite frankly it’s an enjoyable ride.
My least
favorite part of the writing process are those days where I feel stuck! I just can’t seem to get anything good
down. It can be frustrating. Initially, when I first started to take
writing seriously (and not just hobby), I would get upset that I was not
producing quality every day. But then I
realized it’s just the process and those “worthless” days are actually
worthwhile… but it doesn’t make going through them any easier.
What was the
inspiration for your upcoming release?
The book
I’m promoting right now is entitled, In
Flames. It’s been out since the end of
April. It’s a story about two
individuals that experience the loss of a loved one and their shared grief
turns into something more. The story
started out with a scene. Two people
that could not be together for some reasons, yet they found it difficult to
stay away from each other. As Gracelyn
and Matt started to develop, I found the idea that Gracelyn had been married to
Matt’s brother before he passed away to be a real obstacle to their love. So, I rolled with that storyline. There is no lack of emotion in In Flames.
In three to
five words, why will we fall in love with the main characters of this novel?
Emotions. Love.
Drama. Sexy! Firefighter!
(And you can combine the last two words too!)
What are
you currently working on?
I started a
series for Evernight Publishing’s Romance on the Go line. The series is entitled Taking Advantage. It will be
three books, each dealing with one of three guys that sits as a member of the
board of directors for Advantage Insurance Company. The first is called Board Stiff. Here’s the
blurb for Board Stiff – anticipated
release July:
John
Dorsey’s life is good. He is the owner
of Dorsey Construction. He’s the
youngest person on the board of directors for Advantage Insurance Company. He lives on the beach. And he knows he can have any woman he
wants. John’s got the world at his
fingertips… except he’s yet to find a woman that stimulates both his body and
mind.
Elizabeth
Wright worked hard in a large Tampa law firm making a name for herself, but it
came at the expense of her personal life. When Advantage Insurance Company
offers her a job as corporate counsel, Elizabeth cannot turn it down. The thought that she can have a successful
legal career and a life excites and intimidates her.
But when
their worlds collide one day in the Advantage board room, neither Elizabeth nor
John knows what’s hit them. All they
know is they can’t stay away from each other.
Now, let’s get a little dirty! Tell me…
Favorite
time of day - Sunset at the beach
Coffee or
Tea – Coffee in the morning – Tea at night!
Sweet or
spicy – Depends on the mood. I enjoy
both immensely.
Left or
right - Right
Top or
bottom - Hmmm… If we are talking about
what I think we are talking about, I don’t really have a preference. I go with what strikes me at the moment! ;)
Sometimes neither of those apply!
;)
Best song
to make love to – Dave Matthews Band – Crash Into Me – Quite honestly anything
by Dave Matthews works. He’s got a sexy
voice and his music is sensual.
The most
memorable place you’ve visited – I’m a traveler at heart and I’ve been a ton of
places. But my favorite country to visit
thus far was Italy. How can you beat
romance, great food, and amazing wine?
A place
you’d love to travel to – Ireland and England – they are next on the list.
A personal
anecdote…
If nothing
ever changed, there would be no butterflies!
About the
Author:
I am a
born and raised small town Ohio girl, who moved to the Sunshine State after
graduating from college. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in English
because I could not imagine doing anything else but reading and writing. It is
such a pleasure to be able to share all the stories in my head!
In the
journey of life, I also became a wife and a mother of three children. So, life
is always an adventure. But the love of writing has never died.
My
favorites: I love to read and write...
obviously! But I also enjoy all sports, especially college football and the
Ohio State Buckeyes! Go Steelers! Go Rays! I LOVE to travel... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
to travel. And I love sharing my love to travel with my children. I love to
drink Teavana teas! I love a good glass of wine, especially if it comes from a
bottle made by the FOOLS wine club… yep, I’m a member of that! I
love hanging out with my family and my friends!
Big fan of music, but love nothing better than putting on my jean
shorts, tank top, cowboy boots and hat and watching Tim McGraw belt it
out! I’m a sucker for a cowboy hat!
