TnT Confidential: Iyana Jenna & Muse

Hello lovelies! If you've read the post below this one, you'll know that Iyana Jenna has organized a Blog Hop called "Share your Muse Blog Hop". There are a lively bunch of authors participating and each is holding their own giveaway, so after finding out some more about fabulous Iyana, don't forget to visit the Hop.

Sicne we're talking about Muse's, Iyana has not only answered some questions but she's also showcasing her recent novel,  Muse. Having had the privilege of reading it I must warn you that though masterfully written it, with a dark depth that you will not find in any romance novel, this story is violent and not for the faint hearted.

Welcome to TnT Confidential, Iyana!
Thank you so much for having me, Elyzabeth. I really appreciate it, especially considering that my story is not a usual one.

Muse is quite a dark tale. What inspired you to write it?
It was quite a long time ago that I wrote it but I remember this young actor who is just very beautiful. He inspired me to write Julien story.

What was the hardest part about writing this story?
Oh gosh. Those scenes involving methods of torture and torture devices were torturous for me to write. Yet I wrote them. Go figure.

Did you have to do any research?
Yes. For those torture scenes.

What’s your usual writing process like?

I usually start with an idea for the plot and the ending of the story. I would write the idea down in a form of a synopsis but it’s not going to be a detailed outline. Writing an outline usually tires me out and when I am finished with it, I could lose interest on the story already. I said I usually knew the ending of the story, but I’m always open to wherever my story and characters take it.

What are you currently working on?

I’m planning a Halloween story right now for a challenge. I hope I can finish it in time.

September interrogation…
- A book recommendation for September
Omorphi by Cody Kennedy. It’s a YA M/M story about abuse and bullying. I really want to read it!

- A kiss under the rain or in the sun?
In the sun. Rain makes me dizzy.

- It’s a chilly Friday night, you are…
Wrapped in a blanket with hot chocolate and my favorite books

- The song that pops into your head at random times
Run by Snow Patrol

- A word you can’t live without
Reverie

- A personal Anecdote
Well, I don’t know if it’s funny or not but I have this colleague, a fellow teacher. His name is Ridwan. One day in the Teacher’s Room, the television was on and there was a video clip of this boy band. Another teacher, a lady, said to him, “Ridwan, I think you’re as handsome as they are.” You know what Ridwan said? He replied, “Well, ma’am, if I were that handsome, I wouldn’t have been here teaching.” Ouch.

Muse by Iyana Jenna
Words: 4,000

Damien King is a painter who gets inspired from tormenting his models. Julien is his one-time muse. Warning: BDSM, torture, violence, dub-con

Excerpt

Prologue
He could not take his eyes off the artist. His breath held fast for a moment when the painter seemed to glance his way, but apparently not, he didn’t stand a chance of being noticed. Damien King admired beauty and what he meant by beauty was a definite glory. It was obvious from his paintings. Damien needed a delicate-looking model for his muse and Julien would not even dare dream it. He was not in that category. In truth, he was nothing. Nothing.
Looking around in terror, Julien made sure he was still alone, hiding in a corner of the gallery where Damien displayed his artwork. No one he knew was anywhere in the vicinity although his father would eventually realize he was missing and begin to seek him out.
Knowing his hiding spot would not be safe for long, despite the shadow protecting it, Julien crept out toward the tall, floor-to-ceiling, blood-red drapes. Yet as he lifted his face, a pair of crimson-angry eyes fell to his and Julien shrieked, fleeing to a room where Damien had just retreated. His heart pounded hard, anticipating the horror that the future would bestow upon him.
***
Damien crinkled his nose as he rearranged Julien’s stance. The stench of blood and semen—his semen—assaulted his nostrils. The lad was unconscious now as he tightened the leather cords around Julien’s wrists. The ropes hung down from the ceiling, suspending the model in free space. Dark lids covered the boy’s clenched shut eyes, now drenched with sweat running from his brow. Those liquid pearls of sweat doused the boy’s face and body, including his bare chest and red, welt-covered back.
Damien tilted his head sideways, marveling at his own artwork, and that other lovely shape—definitely not his work—a well-rounded rump swathed with angry marks. The artist smirked, full of contentment. A little push to spread the legs apart and he would be ready to capture Julien’s startling expressions on canvas. Damien smiled, thinking of how it had all started.

Share Your Muse Blog Hop (Sept 12- 14th)

Hello everyone and welcome to Share Your Muse Blog Hop!

I will be giving away a copy of one of my books to a randomly drawn commenter. The only rule to participate is to leave a comment with your email and the answer to the following question:
What inspires you?

Now, without further ado and before she pulls out my hair and tackles me to the ground, allow me to introduce you to my usually shy, Muse.

Welcome Muse, do  you have a given name? How old are you?

Muse: My name and age are of no consequence. They are irrelevant in my plane of existence.

Err, very well. What’s your work like?

Muse: Ah, I love my line of work. Basically, what I do is create an agreement with certain characters and then together, we choose a scene with which to entice Elyzabeth. Most of the time, we do it while she’s out on walks with her dog or walking home from the bus stop, so that she can’t stop to write the scene down. By the time she’s gotten home she’s forgotten half the scene and we’re rolling on the floor laughing as she struggles to recall the details.

*Narrows eyes at Muse* I really don’t think it’s that funny. Do you realize how many great stories you’ve cost me?

Muse: Don’t be silly! You know we repeat the process of your favorite scene several times until you remember it and write it all down.

*grumbles* How about the times you've run away, huh? What can you say to that?

Muse: *Sniffles* I can’t help it. You get so stressed sometimes that you stress me out! And I can’t work in an environment like that.

Well, you leaving me doesn’t help.

Muse: Yes it does, because then you’re forced to relax and watch a movie, read a few books and do other things that make me want to come back and fill your head with new stories.

*throws hands up in the air* Oh, all right, all right! You’re impossible.

Muse: *grins* You know it's true.

Anyway, there are people reading this, let’s get on with the questionnaire: what’s your favorite season?

Muse: Oh, I am most creative in winter. There’s just something about the cool air that seems to activate my creative juices.

Do you ever use any external help to get those creative juices flowing?

Muse: Definitely! Sometimes I’ll use a visual aid like a photograph. A lot of the time, nature inspires me, but most of the time it’s music what does the trick for me. Music invokes so many images and stories in my head I could drive you crazy if I were to let them all out.

Okay, last question, people have other things to do than hear you rant. What are your plans for the future?

Muse: What a silly question, Elyzabeth! Why, to keep annoying you forever, of course. I have several shifters that are demanding their stories be told, a medieval troubadour who won’t take no for an answer, a warrior queen who’s battling for her life, a mercenary under disguise, a vampire that—

Run, run, as fast you can. Once she starts she doesn’t stop. Go on and visit the other authors participating in this hop before this particular Muse drives you crazy! And don't forget to leave a comment with your email addy and the answer to the question to participate in my giveaway!
