Welcome to In A Dream Beyond, Leo,
Deklan and Aura! Please, make yourselves comfortable. I’m thrilled to have you
here and to be able to interview you. I don’t want to steal too much of your
time, so let us begin.
Can you tell us a little about where
you come from?
Aura: I’m from Earth, a refugee camp
located in Idaho, but I was kidnapped from there by Xyrans looking for women
and children to sell in the slave markets. Some Alphan soldiers captured their
ship and returned my fellow humans to Earth, but I had to stay behind since I
was injured.
Leo: My bondmate and I are from
Alpha, a planet similar to Earth with a strong military tradition. We live with
honor and obedience to our laws and king. Deklan and I have travelled the
galaxy since we were teenagers after we joined the military.
Is that where you call home?
Deklan: Now we live on Earth, on our
own land in Manitoba where we operate a mine. Leo and I were not able to return
to Alpha with Aura and risk losing her, so we decided to forgo our home planet.
Please, tell us a little about your
story. How did you meet?
Aura: They cared for me when I
arrived at the hospital. Since the Alphan military is entirely male, there was
no privacy for me as I recovered until Leo and Deklan offered me the use of their
spare room.
Leo: To be accurate, we were ordered
to give you our spare room, in order that you not become a distraction to the
recuperating soldiers. It was very awkward at first, since we had no experience
with feminine habits.
Deklan: But we were very grateful to
have you join us. (kisses)
There’s no doubt that there’s
passion between you, but what else attracts you about one another?
Leo: Aura completes our bond. Deklan
and I have been partners since we were new recruits, but always hoped to find a
woman who would mesh with our hearts and minds the way Aura does. We strengthen
each other, sense each other’s moods, would defend each other to the death.
It’s instinctive, powerful, and something one is lucky to experience once in a
lifetime.
Deklan: She is kind, brave enough to
fight a Xyran bare-handed, and strong enough to best two Alphan warriors in any
battle of wits.
Aura: How could I not fall in love
with them? They cared for me when I was ill, protected me, and they’re both
sexy as hell.
What’s the hardest
thing you’ve ever had to do?
Deklan: For me, it was
when we were forced to send Aura back to Earth to re-join her people. It tore
my heart apart to see her get on that ship and know that would be the last.
Leo: Even though we’d
bonded with her in the short time we had together, Alphan tradition dictates
that only high-ranking officers have the opportunity to join with a woman in a
sanctioned match. Neither Deklan nor I qualified since we were disabled in battle
and no longer able to rise in the ranks, or defend her if challenged by another
Alphan bondmate pair.
Aura: The two of you
would have defeated anyone who dared come between us. Or I would have.
In an ordinary day, what makes you
laugh?
Aura: That’s easy. I love watching
Leo and Deklan taking care of our daughter, Io. Even though she’s only two, she
has them wrapped around her pudgy finger and they will do anything to please
her. There’s nothing like watching two burly men dress their little girl in her
favorite green tutu and glitter slippers. She’s growing up to be a spoiled
Alphan princess, I’m afraid.
What’s your favorite thing to do on
a lazy morning?
Deklan: We so rarely have lazy
mornings between care of our child and work on our property, but if we did have
one, I’d like to get up early, go fishing for trout in the stream that runs
near our lodge, and have them fried and ready for breakfast by the time
everyone else wakes up.
Leo: I want to sleep in. With Aura.
Finally, what’s your dream?
Leo: We already have our dream. We
have our family, our home, and a bright future ahead of us.

It was strange to wake up in a bed with an alien male,
no, two alien males, she amended. She glanced over to see Leo was still asleep,
sprawled on his belly, his head cradled on his bent arm. Lots of thick muscles
under gleaming skin on display. They both looked so strong.
She turned her head back to Deklan and jumped with
surprise to find him watching her with half-closed, sleepy eyes.
“Sleep well?” he whispered.
She nodded. Deklan’s eyes crinkled at the corners. He
inhaled and stretched his arms over his head with a sigh, inadvertently
dislodging the sheet even further down his body. He was wearing dark pants so
there wasn’t much more she could see, not that she should be looking any
further. She couldn’t quite take her eyes off him, though. As he lowered his
arms, the one closest to her nudged along her shoulder and coasted down her
arm, his large hand finally coming to rest next to hers. He edged closer and watched her for a moment.
She could feel the heat of his body.
“Do I look very different?”
“Different than what?” Aura whispered back, unwilling to
disturb Leo when he’d been so kind to her.
“A human male. I’ve never seen one in the flesh nor seen
a human female until the ship landed.”
“You look different. Bigger, stronger. Your skin is…”
