By day a bear, by night a man.

Half a century ago Simon Lancaster loved a woman. But when he committed a crime and was seduced by a witch his fate was sealed. Forced to live as a shifter by day and human by night, he becomes hopeless.

He believes there is nothing left in life for him. That is, until he meets Margaret O'Hare. An unconventional woman, Margaret makes him feel whole again, but he doesn't know if he can allow the walls he has erected around his heart to lower, no matter how much he grows to care for her.

As their time together has them becoming closer, he starts to trust and love again. But a happily ever after might not be in Simon's future as dark shadows emerge to destroy what he has built with Margaret.

In this snippet, Simon is in the woods debating whether he should visit Margaret as he'd promised.

“Mr. Lancaster.”

He jumped and veered around.

“Margaret, what are you doing here?” Heat crept up his neck. “I apologize. I thought you’d be resting after your injury yesterday.”

She smiled at him. “The herbs Morgana placed in the water were very helpful. As for what I’m doing here…” Margaret chewed on her bottom lip and looked at him from beneath her lashes. “I was looking for you, Simon.”

“For me?”

“Yes. I was worried you wouldn’t come. Your promise seemed empty yesterday when we said our farewells.”

“You were going to venture into the forest at night to search for me?”

He tucked his thumb beneath her chin, forcing her to look at him. Margaret nodded and blushed. Simon’s heart expanded and doubled its hammering into a joyful tune.

“I would be hard-pressed to stay away from you, Margaret.”

Softly, she placed her hand over his.

“Then let us go inside.”

“Why?”

Margaret’s eyes widened for an instant before she burst out laughing. His insides flipped.

“Why?” she echoed. “When was the last time you were with a woman, Simon?” Her voice dropped seductively as she inched closer, placing her palm on his chest.

“Excuse me?”

Margaret didn’t respond. Instead, she slid her hand up his torso in a caress that, even through his clothes, left him hot and wanton. Her fingers curled around the nape of his neck, pressing slightly and forcing him to lower his head. Standing on her toes, she pressed her lips against his. Blood rushed to his cock at the proximity of her body. Her fragrance filled his nostrils and he had to curl his fists to stop himself from pulling her even closer.

“When was the last time you had a woman in your arms, Simon? When was the last time you felt anything similar to what we feel? I told you last night, your presence does things to me.”

Her warm lips touched his. It wasn’t a kiss. It was like the peck of a bird. An invitation. A tiny taste that invited him to have more. He wanted more.

#8Sunday #SexySnippets #WeekendWritingWarriors #paranormal #romance #Guardians

Happy Sunday, lovelies!

I had a crazy scare with my laptop on Friday night. The damn thing wouldn't start and all because of Window's new "Anniversary pack". Ugh, I spent a full evening and part of the night solving the problem. Sigh.

Thanks for all your lovely comments from last week. In today's snippet I'm jumping ahead to the moment Kaila finally enters Sloth's lair.
.

Let's recap: Kaila is in front of Sloth's (a Sin lord) door because she needs to access into his lair to save her sister. She was about to go in when she was interrupted by Seamus, a Guardian. They've known each other for years and he calls her babe even though she hates it. Seamus doesn't want Kaila to enter the Sin's nest and is physically holding her down.

This  snippet has been edited to keep to guidelines.

Before he could reach out to stop her or talk her into being sensible, she stepped through the doors into the unknown.

Kaila blinked repeatedly in an attempt to adjust her eyes to the impenetrable gloom. She swallowed drily as uncertainty crept over her. What had she gotten herself into? Cold sweat rolled down her back. Her breathing sounded loud and ragged in the deadly silence. She needed to move but her feet seemed cemented to the ground. The thought of returning to Seamus and asking for help crossed her mind and she glanced behind her. Her hands trembled. The doors were gone, replaced by darkness.

Book Spotlight on Hawk v Falcon by Elodie Parkes @elodieparkes #LGBT #romance #erotic

Thank you for hosting new release MM romance,
Hawk v Falcon: Surprise at the Candy Apple

When Chris Falconer receives an email from his lost high school friend, Justin, ten years after he last saw him, Chris is overjoyed. The two boys had shared kisses and sworn love for each other, but before their love could be tested, Justin’s mother abruptly took Justin out of school, and they disappeared.
Multi-talented and handsome Chris is a cage fighter at Jack’s Clubhouse, and works in the Candy Apple club. He writes a column for a fitness blog and keeps himself busy, but deep down he’s never forgotten Justin—turns out Justin has never forgotten Chris either.
On a modeling assignment in New York, Justin sees Chris in a café and can’t help contacting him, but his ex, Todd, who doesn’t want Justin but doesn’t want Chris to have him either, has plans to throw their reunion into disarray.
So begins a love story full of emotion. Will Todd succeed? Or this time, will Justin and Chris have the happy ending and delicious love they deserve?
In the second MM romance from the Candy Apple series, I picked up on the character Hawk, the Dungeon Master in the Candy Apple. Chris Falconer is Hawk to the dungeon surveillance staff, but to others he’s a lonely man who often thinks about his past with regret. To the audience at Jack’s Clubhouse, where Chris cage fights and provides display fight bouts, he’s a thrilling sight.

Chris is:
·         six foot, two
·         has dark glossy hair
·         has deep blue eyes
·         is kind and gentle
·         writes a blog for fitness and fight fans
·         loves sex and giving his partner pleasure
·         is muscled and handsome
·         when he’s not fighting, favors black suits, or a leather jacket
·         is intelligent, multi-talented, calm and sophisticated
Justin is:
  • a fashion model
  • six foot two
  • has dark hair
  • has clear blue/gray eyes
  • is lonely and had a stressful upbringing
  • has never forgotten Chris
  • needs love
  • has lived in Denmark for many years
  • is hesitant and yet as soon as Chris begins to take care of him, he blossoms

Their story is sexy, romantic, sad, and happy. No one is more surprised than Chris when he is contacted by long lost love Justin and he will do anything to give Justin the love he needs.

Read an excerpt:
Justin walked a pace behind Chris. It was such a relief to be near Chris, Justin’s fatigue threatened to overwhelm him. Every muscle in his body felt heavy. His gaze traced the broad shoulders and muscled thighs of the man in front. Chris’s hair was well cut and his suit obviously expensive. Chris was even taller than he’d been when Justin last saw him in person, but then so was he. Justin smiled as a wave of tenderness crept over him followed by a sharp need to feel Chris’s lips on his. He still loved Chris. He’d expected to find it was all in his head, that the love was confined to memories, and real life would show him he was mistaken, that love couldn’t last this long.
They were in a corridor when Chris turned to him. “I’ve thought about you so much, I’m a bit ashamed of myself for clinging to your memory, when you never called, when you just disappeared.”
Justin’s heart fell. Was Chris about to reject him now they were away from the bar, the friendly barkeep, and bright white glow of the downlights there? “I’m sorry...”
“No. I meant ... I mean I still care for you. I couldn’t ever shake it. I never got over you and it’s been ... it’s been so long—you know I sometimes felt weak for not letting go.”
Justin gazed at Chris’s handsome face. “I thought about you.” He slid his hand along Chris’s jaw. “I want to kiss you, so much.”
Chris closed the small gap between their bodies as he grabbed Justin’s head and brought his mouth down on Justin’s. Justin’s breath left him in a soft murmur. His eyes closed in pleasure. He clung to Chris, desperation to stay with Chris, never to go home, gripping him. All he could think of was starting again with Chris, of the delicious drifting sensation that overcame him as Chris pressed close. He kissed Chris over and over until he couldn’t breathe, and Chris held his face away a little whispering words he’d longed to hear against his mouth and dotting tiny kisses there between the phrases.
“Justin, stay here, in the club. I can’t let you go, but I can’t leave work. I still love you. I want to know where you’ve been all these years. Where do you live? You must be a club member. I’ve not seen you here before. Can you stay until we close? It will be late, but then we can talk—we can be together.”
Justin closed his eyes and leaned his head on Chris’s shoulder. “Yes.”
Chris folded Justin in his arms.
Justin stayed within the comfort of the embrace until he knew he had to let Chris get back to work. He raised his head and stepped away.
“I should let you work. I’ll hang out at the bar.”
Chris gazed into his eyes. “Thank you.” He kissed Justin gently. “Hell, you’ll never know how good it feels to kiss you again.

Wednesday Brief: Pretty Boy 7 #freeread #wednesdaybrief #writingprompt #malemale #romance #LGBT

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome back to another Wednesday Brief. Jay and Josh's story continues... Although, we now have a new character that might make things more complicated.

You can find the last chapter here.

Enjoy and don't forget to visit the other briefers!

Pretty Boy7

Josh parked his car in front of the driveway. He held onto the steering well, wondering if this had been a good idea. His hands felt clammy against the leather and his stomach churned unpleasantly.

“Fuck,” he whispered, closing his eyes.

He was about to consider this the worst day in his life. First Jay had come to him begging for a night alone and then he’d had to go and cancel. He would never forget the other man’s grimace of pain and disgust. Josh had tried to explain that he was standing him up because he was trying to find a solution to your problem. Jay hadn’t want to hear it and had stormed off.

And now, here he was. Sitting in his car, five minutes to eight, wondering if he’d done the right thing in calling Anthony. They hadn’t spoken or seen each other for eight months. Josh worried his bottom lip. He had walked away from the relationship because Anthony was too intense. He wanted things Josh had felt at that moment that he couldn’t give him. Josh wasn’t sure what his reaction to seeing him would be. Was he truly over Anthony? Could he walk into that house with a straight face and ask the other man for help as if nothing had transpired between them? As if he hadn’t broken Anthony’s heart?

“Fuck,” he swore again.

They had been talking about living together when Josh had fled. He hadn’t given them a chance and now he was about to step into that house again. To go in and see and touch places where a lot had happened. He absently wondered if Anthony still kept the old leather chair. God, how he both hated and loved that thing. It was so out of place in the tiny living room, and yet, it fit so right. Josh sighed. He glanced at the clock. 8:01 pm. Anthony hated tardiness and there was no point in delaying the inevitable. If he was going to get help, he’d have to suck it up and go inside.

Stepping out of his car, he locked it and briskly made his way to the front door. The exterior of the house hadn’t changed, although it looked as if Anthony had finally gotten round to re-painting it. Josh swallowed and rang the bell. He shifted his weight while he waited. He knew Anthony was in there. The house was only one-story and light filtered through some of the windows. If he had to bet on it, Anthony had probably been aware of the exact moment he arrived and parked his vehicle.

The door began to open and he shoved his hands in his pockets to hide their trembling. His breath caught in his throat as his gaze finally landed on Anthony. Had he always been so tall? So imposing? Josh couldn’t help looking him over. He was dressed in dark blue jeans, a black t-shirt and a red-checked shirt. His beard was fuller than he remembered, his lips plumper. His black hair was longer, almost to his shoulders. His brown eyes shone mischievously and he gave Josh the lopsided smile that spelt nothing but trouble.
“Come in, Pretty boy, don’t just stand there. Did you miss me much?” Anthony said.

TO be continued...
