#8Sunday #SexySnippets #WeekendWritingWarriors: Beauty in the Beast #fantasy #power

Happy Sunday, guys!

First of all, thank you for visiting me last weekend! To those of you that did and also shared snippets, I wanted to apologize because I didn't get a chance to visit any blogs last week though to major work overload (and that meeting on Sunday, ugh). Won't happen today, though. *smile*

I finally finished my edits for Beauty in the Beast, and I have to say, as dark as Christopher is, I still love him. *grin*.

In last week's snippet Morgana and Christopher were discussing the meaning of power. I'm continuing from there...
Edits have taken place to keep to WeWriWa guidelines.

“Don’t you see, that’s how the Darkness feeds?”
Christopher’s smile vanished. He leaned forward in his seat.
“Then its belly is quite full and it shall never be defeated, for men cannot change. Men are what they are. Selfish, cruel, and heartless. And if you intend, as I suspect, to fight this creature, then you, my dear, are fighting a losing battle.” He leaned back against his seat, his arms crossed over his chest, defying her.

Beauty in the Beast

Light will become shadow. Love will become hate. Good will become evil. The Darkness is here. There will be no escape.

Morgana Wiles has spent her life, alongside her mother, fighting against the arrival of the creature known as The Darkness. Unfortunately, neither of them were able to stop him and now he's here, ready to destroy all that is good in the world. Morgana must face him, but now that the time has come, she finds that things are not as simple. Her mother is gone, self-doubt is creeping in, and her visions are unclear. To make matters worse, a man with evil intent has entered her life and is bent on complicating her mission. Will she be able to resist him in time to fight The Darkness or will she succumb and become that which she despises?
Christopher Bexley is no gentleman. He enjoys trickery, deceit, mischief and above all seduction. Sexual intercourse is the greatest source of power there is or at least there was, until he heard about the Gem. Now that he has discovered there's a stone that can make him the most powerful magic user of all time, he must have it. The only problem is that the only other person that might know where it is, is a stickler for rules and being good. Morgana is too innocent for his liking, and there's only one thing he can do to change that: corrupt her.

  1. Christopher has a very bleak outlook - let's hope Morgana can convince him he's wrong. Something tells me they're going to have a very strained relationship otherwise!

  2. He definitely doesn't want her to fight. I wonder if she'll heed his word, or ignore him. Great snippet! :)

  3. I'm captivated by him and I wonder if she will convince him. Great snippet, Elyzabeth.

  4. Wow, sounds like his mind is made up, with strong opinions on the matter. I wonder if she can convince him anyway?

    1. She'll try, that's for sure; but then, so will he ;)

  5. Oh my, he seems very set in his ways. She'll def have her hands full with him.

    1. Indeed! It won't be an easy task, but neither will it be for him ;)

  6. I think she's going to have a lot of fun making him eat those words... Great snippet!

  7. I hope she has the powers of persuasion as he seems to be a tough nut to crack. Great snippet.

  8. He is very cynical about the qualities of man, and a bit patronising to her - quite a delicious character to work with, though. I do like 'baddies'! Good snippet.

  9. I gotta say, he's kinda growing on me, too. I love the truth he speaks, and that he has enough confidence/arrogance to believe he's right. But I also agree with Rachel– I have a feeling he's going to eat is words sooner rather than later. ;)

  10. Wow, defiant dude, isn't he? He's going to be fun to play with ;-) Wonderful snippet!

  11. A wee bit cynical, this one. The fact that he disagrees with her about human nature introduces an interesting conflict. Which of them will have to change their opinion, based on the action of the book.

  12. Thanks everyone! Yes, he was a lot of fun to play with: defiant, headstrong and well, a troublemaker. *grin*
