#Friday Happy Author Hour! Share a drink with your favorite #Authors! #HappyHour #writing Today with Siobhan Muir @SiobhanMuir

Whether you're an author or not, you've heard it before: All authors drink.

But what do they drink?

I can't believe January is all but gone! No matter, it's Friday folks and today Siobhan Muir is dropping in with a drink that can be had any time! Mmmmm...

Author Happy Hour WIth Siobhan Muir & - Solstice Grog from A Centaur’s Solstice Wish

I’m a huge fan of eggnog, but the stuff from the stores is often full of chemicals and preservatives that aren’t healthy. Not to mention the sheer amount of sugar they put in the drink. I’ve been on the lookout for a good ’nog recipe for a while and my good friend Silver James gave me one she used for get-togethers while her husband was in the military. Considering the characters in my story were in the cavalry, it seemed like a great fit for the narrative.

What I love about Solstice Grog is you can have it anytime, not just around the winter holidays. There’s a summer solstice, too, remember. :) While it’s not low calorie, you don’t need much to give you your sweet fix, and it’s refreshing in the summer.

Solstice Grog
1 dozen large eggs,
1 lb powdered sugar,
1 pint brandy,
1/2 pint peach brandy
1/2 pint dark rum
 3 pints milk
1 pint heavy cream.

Separate eggs and beat whites to semi-stiff peaks. Blend yolks and sugar. Slowly stir in brandies and rum. Add milk and cream. Fold in semi-stiff whites. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve chilled. Serves 25.

**For a “virgin” grog, add a tbsp of vanilla and/or 1 tsp Almond extract in place of the alcohol.

About Siobhan

Siobhan Muir lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with her husband, two daughters, and a vegetarian cat she swears is a shape-shifter, though he's never shifted when she can see him.
