Excerpt:
Are you kidding me? You weigh maybe a hundred pounds soaking wet. What do you think you’re doing walking alone at night?” She noticed Eric looking down at all five feet three inches of her, scowling. “Let me give you a ride home.”
Eric’s radio went off. “Shit. I have to go, Calla, another attack. Call a cab, please.”
Yeah, sure.”
He hurried away. Calla walked in the opposite direction, towards her house. She took this path three to four days a week on her way home from work. There wasn’t any way she was going to call a cab.
She heard footsteps closing in behind her. Alarmed, she wrapped her hand around the can of mace in her pocket and picked up her pace.
The footsteps were gone. Had she imagined them? Calla turned her head to look but she was alone. “Get it together, chicken. You’re scaring yourself now.”
She rounded the corner nearing an alley. A trickle of red blood flowed from it, creeping onto the sidewalk. Calla stopped in front of a pathway as uneasiness washed over her. Fear and ethics battled within her. Ethics won, but her legs felt like lead, and they weren’t moving. She forced herself to take a few steps and spotted a mound lying next to the wall.
After several tense seconds, she tightened her grip on the can of mace and slowly made her way towards the heap on the ground.
This is exactly how all the stupid girls are killed in the movies. They go walking right into danger, and boom, they’re dead.
Approaching the mound, she trembled. As she moved closer she saw a tanned foot sticking out from the trench coat. Calla bent down, her chest heaving, hands shaking as she reached the foot and gave it a quick shake, but nothing happened. Relax, before you hyperventilate and end up on the ground, too. Breathe, Calla, breathe.
She stood, crept forward, and reached for what she hoped was the head. She knelt down and pulled back the thick trench coat. His head turned to the side, face badly beaten, eyes cracked to reveal a glimmer of the brightest green she had ever seen.
Holy shit!” She jumped back, startled.
The man didn’t move. She bent down again this time reaching for his neck. The pulse was weak. She had already used her gifts twice this evening, and her body still ached from the two previous failures. “Focus. You can do this.” She struggled to turn the man onto his back. When she finally rolled him over there was a knife, with a green hue as if the metal was oxidized, protruding out of his chest.
Of course there’s a knife,” Calla murmured to herself.
I’m going to try to help you,” she whispered in his ear. She knew she might not be able to save him, but she had to try. If she could pull the knife out in a quick motion she could heal him. She placed her hands around the hilt of the knife and pulled. Nothing happened. “Maybe if I get some leverage.”
Calla straddled the man, planting one tennis shoe on each side of his limp body. She bent down and wrapped both hands around the hilt and pulled with everything she had. The knife began to move—barely—but it was moving. It felt like pulling a rubber boot stuck in thick mud. After a few more attempts the suction released, and the knife was freed.
She collapsed on his chest and sat up, placing both palms on the bleeding wound. “Please, oh please let this work.” Calla focused on the wound, gathering energy. Then her hands began to glow. Sweat dripped matting blonde hair to her forehead, and her vision began to dim. “I won’t let you die,” she promised.
Then darkness embraced her.

Welcome to In a dream Beyond, DC!

Tell us about your latest release…

Feral Craving is book one of a series I deemed The Justice Demons. Justice Demons, you ask? Yes, it's a paranormal romance, where a group of Special Forces members find out they aren't exactly human, and have been created by a Goddess to help ward of the battle of good and evil. Their sole job is to protect the world, keep things in balance, much as they did in the military.

Within Feral Craving, the first member finds his mate, someone he ran from nine years ago, thinking he was not good enough to have her. He wanted her life to be happy, and without doubts, something that he is not in shortage of.

Needless to say, while he's been gone, she hasn't had said happiness, and things have changed …

Did you make any research for this book? Tell us about it.

Oh, well it’s interesting you should say that because with all I’ve accomplished in my life, from working with law enforcement, doing my full time job, and serving in the military, I drew on the knowledge that has been ingrained in me to work on this.  In order to understand the aspect of where these Justice Demons came from I had to get cozy with a few books, Google, and a specific goddess.  ;)

In one sentence (or three words), what will make us fall in love with the characters from Feral Craving?

Dark, Loyal, and Raw

Why and when did you decide to submerge yourself in the world of romance writing?

I’ve always had a thing for reading romances.  I open a book and sorta fall into the world.  In a lot of circumstances, I’ve even found it hard to put the book down.  That’s what I wanted to create.  I was looking to do something fresh on the market and in both my paranormal line and my thriller line, I think I’ve accomplished that.

You’re a full time fraud-investigator… How does your day job influence your writing?
It definitely has its touch.  A lot of what I write on not only includes a romantic aspect of a couple, but also includes crimes I’ve recreated from cases I’ve either worked or been involved in.  There is a lot out there that we need to be aware of, and I think this way is the best direction to make in order to give insight to those readers.

What are you currently working on?
Besides book 2 of the Justice Demon series, I’m also working on book 2 and 3 of my thriller romance series.  This series hasn’t been released yet, but is soon to come out.  (More links to follow on that)  It involves a group of law enforcement agents from different agencies and their quest to not only solve the crimes they come up again, but also to give in to the feelings of their hearts.

Three things you absolutely need for writing
Notebook, pencil, laptop

Favorite author
Pamela Clare

About D.C.
D.C. Stone is an e-book author and full-time fraud investigator when she isn’t diving into the world of Fiction.
She lives in the north-east with her incredibly supporting husband, two kids, and the all American black Labrador puppy. She’ll deny any association with the grumpy cat that also resides in the house, but he is there, never-the-less.
After serving eight years of service with the United States Air Force, she went on to transition into the world of Financial Crimes and became a lead investigator for many years.
Reading has always been a passion of hers, getting lost in a good, steamy romance one of her favorite past times. That passion took a back seat as soon as she discovered her own love for writing and recreating her own stories and characters.  Her writing concentrates on Romance with specifics in Paranormal, Suspense and Erotica.
Now, when she isn’t trying to solve a new puzzle in the world of fraud, she is engulfed with coffee, her laptop, and all those crazy characters in her head. Trying to keep up with that crazy bunch is a skill many would yearn to have.

Elyzabeth's Birthday Bash... where you get the gifts

Welcome, welcome!

Take a seat. Or don’t. Go on, dance! I’ve got a lively selection of music blaring through the speakers. Metal is my favorite but I’ve included some pop, rock, and everything in between. Cake? How about something to drink?

Ah, birthday parties! I’m not a great fan, I’ll admit it. Not because of anything in particular, I’m okay with growing older.

*ahem ahem *

Sorry, please ignore my sister shaking her head in the back. As I was saying, all this birthday madness has gotten me thinking about some of my most memorable birthdays. For instance, when I turned 14 I had my first surprise party. I went to sleep at a friend’s house when out of nowhere a few other friends appeared from behind curtains and chairs shouting “surprise!” It was a great sleep over!

Another cool birthday was when I turned 18. I was supposed to meet up with 1 friend for dinner, but my other 9 friends had other plans... The night didn’t end as expected (we couldn’t go to the club we wanted because some of them weren’t of age yet), but we still had a great time.

Last year was also an unexpected surprise. I went out for drinks with some friends when out of the blue one of them pulled out candles and donuts. What was going to be a short study break (my birthday falls smack in the middle of exams, which sucks), turned out to be an almost all night party at one of my closest friend’s house. Regardless, we did go study at the library the next day.  *wink*

Enough about me! What have been some of your most memorable birthdays? Least? Do you like birthday? Leave a comment below (with your email) telling me your thoughts on birthdays and win any of the following gifts:

Three $5 Amazon Gift Cards

Want to increase your chances of winning? Follow me on Twitter and/or Facebook !

Let’s get this party rolling!

*Winners will be picked with random.org and announced on Monday

Konas Seranimesti was present eighteen years ago when the last Lotus in Arinport gave birth to twins, Soren and Sillara. Sillara was betrothed to Konas's brother the day of her birth, and Konas has fallen in love with his brother's promised wife.

But what can Konas do? Sillara is the daughter of a Lotus, and her life has been planned out in advance. She has never been allowed to choose anything for herself. But when her twin brother, Soren, who is himself feeling the pressures of his station, joins her on a desert hunting trip arranged by his best friend, everyone's plans for Sillara are ruined.
Lost in the desert and assumed dead, Sillara is given choices for the first time in her life, but how can she choose a love she has never recognized? Will Sillara's choice ruin Soren's chance for love? And can Konas win a heart promised to another man?

Excerpt

Soren had no more time to pursue his dark thoughts, for the shaking of the tambourines summoned everyone to the main tent. A male and female pleasure slave, clad in near-nothingness, stood at the entrance and greeted the revelers. Nathen gave Orien a light kick.
“Get up, sleepyhead. Delight calls.”

Orien groaned, squinted against the light, and rolled over. He rose, shook the sand from his massive, muscular frame, and stretched. His face broke into a wide grin. “Is it time to travel the marshes already?”

Soren nodded.

“Merieke brought plenty of herbs, so no one has to worry about bastards, so I am going to take one of the girls for myself. You all can fight it out over whoever's left.”

Orien, Nathen, and Soren entered the tent and were carried along on waves of music, incense, and herbs. Soren watched as a slave crushed the petals of a purple flower in his hand and threw it into the brazier. Immediately he felt his mind slipping away to that thrilling realm of supreme carnal gratification. The slaves had some touch of their master, and though Konas was not here, his influence remained. Soren knew he was in for another unforgettable orgy.

Merieke came, too, and her natural beauty shamed the crafted appearances of the pleasure slaves. She wore nothing save her jewelry, and even her brothers turned and gasped at her arrival. Gold and malachite earrings dangled from her lovely earlobes, and a wide necklace of gold and silver fashioned in the likeness of two birds' heads looking in opposite directions lay across the upper half of her breasts. Her lips were red as the ripest apples, and black wings of kohl rose from her eyes, giving her a cat-like look. Soren was almost convinced that she was purring. A belt of thin gold coins linked together hung on her hips, drawing his attention to her exposed and beautiful pussy. Clean. No hair. Just the way the Sunjaa liked it. But most magnificent of all was Merieke's headpiece, an ornate black wig decorated with cold-worked glass of varying colors.

“Hello, boys,” she said.

No one responded, so stunned were the men by the sudden revelation of her charms.

Soren noticed that she held something in her hand, but whatever it was, it was small enough to be concealed in her closed fist. The only thing he could see was the long ribbon of silk that hung from her hand. It put him in mind of something fun, and with a grin, he walked over to a nearby casket and rummaged through its contents of toys in search of a blindfold.

Orien took one of the slave-girls and commandeered her. Due to Orien's unpleasantly oversized cock, that was no more than Soren expected. That left two male pleasure slaves, one female, and Merieke.

Merieke walked over to Soren, reached up inside his skirt without breaking eye contact with him, and grabbed his cock. “It's about time, don't you think? We've known each other all our lives, and still we haven't fucked?”

Soren untied his skirt and let it fall. “Well, I've been at sea.” He liked bantering with her.

Merieke's eyes glowed. “From what I hear about what you sailors do to each other at sea, I'd say you're more than ready to take what I'm offering.”

Soren grinned and ran his hands through his long hair, freeing any small tangles from his horns. “I'll make your first time with an Ausir something to remember.”
Merieke went up on her tiptoes and kissed Soren's mouth. “And I'll make your first time with me unforgettable.”

Soren smiled back at Nathen, who nodded his approval. Merieke's brother turned his attention toward a female pleasure slave, invited a male pleasure slave to join them, and moved off. Knowing that he was going to tell Sillara everything about this afterward, Soren resolved to thoroughly thank Merieke for her kindness in giving Sillara her first climax.

The part of Soren that was the attentive lover wished he had asked Nathen what kind of lover Merieke was, what she liked and disliked, and what she liked even if she did not know she liked it or just would not admit it to herself. But the other side of Soren, that adventurous side that liked a bit of a surprise, was glad to be sailing into uncharted waters. The sea had never looked more inviting.

Soren sensed that Merieke, in her excitement, wanted to lead, and he obliged her. He knew that some people dealt with their nervousness by overcompensating in matters of control. Soren could wait to assert himself; besides, he was happy to see what Merieke would do.

Merieke laid Soren down on a pile of soft pillows and leaned over him, arching her fingers in order to press her nails into his chest. Her hands played with Soren's body, traveling over his shoulders, and down his muscular arms. She traced the wide wings of the proud falcon tattooed beautifully across his chest. She leaned in closer to play with the hair at the nape of his neck, and as she tousled his locks, she kissed his throat. Soren moaned and relaxed into the pillows. Merieke only used her left hand. Her right hand still held her secret.

The passion of Merieke's kisses increased, and she, too, moaned as she rubbed her tits against Soren's skin. Soren kneaded her breasts, ending each long caress in a pinch of her nipples. He breathed deep of the spices in the fibers of her wig, and his cock surged to life. In moments it was achingly hard. Merieke trailed her kisses across his collarbone and down his chest. She stopped at his nipple for a nibble, and Soren thrust his cock up into her stomach. The hard shaft slapped against her skin, and she looked up into his eyes and smiled.

Her kisses continued down to his navel, and there she paused to lick. With her left hand, she reached down and grasped Soren's cock, working it in preparation for her tongue. She jacked him off against her throat, moving the head of his cock down her jawline and across her chin. Merieke's tongue flicked out, almost touching it but not quite. Soren smiled at her game. Soon it would be his turn.

Without warning, Merieke devoured Soren's cock, the pleasure of which caused him to suck in his breath and hold it. Her lips held his hard shaft against her ever-moving tongue. Her head bobbed up and down, and Soren groaned in pleasure to see his cock disappearing into the mouth he had wanted to fuck for so long. Merieke looked up into his eyes while she sucked. She knew exactly what to do.

But then something happened that surprised and impressed Soren, a man impressed by nothing where sex was concerned. Soren was so far more advanced than any of his lovers that no one had ever been able to catch him unawares in the bedroom.

Merieke did. As she sucked, she dropped both her hands below Soren's legs so that her hands were out of sight. Soren knew she was up to something, but he could not guess what. Then he felt something cool against his asshole, and he looked down in surprise. Merieke managed to smile while still keeping his cock in her mouth.

Soren was open to anything, so he trusted Merieke to please him. So far she was doing an excellent job. He relaxed his asshole and let Merieke slip inside whatever she wanted to put there. Whatever it was, it was not very big. Not as big as a cock. And then a most pleasing vibrating sensation filled his back passage.

Wednesday Briefs: Your hump day dose of flash fiction

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today, I'm continuing with Clare's story. At first I thought about writing a little something different for Valentine's but... I couldn't leave Mikelo and Clare just hanging like that.

The prompts I used and adapted to the story were: Cupid, and hearts

By the way, if you haven't commented already, Tali Spencer was on the spotlight yesterday talking about writing sensual scenes and giving away a copy of her recent release Dangerous Beauty. You have until Friday to enter! Also, tomorrow Adonis Devereux will be stopping by with another giveaway. So don't forget to visit!

Now without further ado...

Little Luna 4

Clare watched her cousin say her vows with a smile plastered on her face.

“Cupid definitely did his thing with those two, huh?” Felicia’s friend whispered wiping away the stray tear in her eyes.

She nodded politely, her eyes never leaving the couple but her thoughts were very far away. She hadn’t heard from Mikelo again, not since his last email and his ominous words that swam constantly in her mind: I’m waiting.

She hadn’t replied. She erased all his messages and for the first time since their game began she became terrified. She thought about going to the police but decided against it. They’d think her crazy and call the doctors on her again.

Clare followed the crowd outside as the bride and groom abandoned the historical church, smiling and waving at everyone, their hearts and their love reflected on their beaming faces.

Shaking her head, Clare waited until almost everyone had left toward the party before making her way to her own car. Her thoughts were gloomy as she remembered her previous nervous breakdowns. She’d had two in her lifetime. One at fifteen, when she’d been accidentally locked in a basement with a friend. The other time, she’d been twenty two and had woken to the sound of water dripping and chimes ringing in the wind. Doctors said that due to her traumatic experience as a child she’d panicked both times due to the darkness. It wasn’t the dark that scared her.

Unlocking her car and throwing her purse in the co-pilot seat, she reached for her sneakers and took off her heals. She’d barely finished tying her shoelaces when something caught her attention. Leaves rustled in the forest in front of her but there was no wind, no reason for the trees to move. Her brow furrowed she walked toward the sound, stopping at the invisible line that separated the trees from the cement. Nothing moved. Shivering she wrapped her mantle tightly around her and began to turn around.

Plop.

She gasped. No. It couldn’t be.

Plop.

She was far away and Feli had assured her the bunker was gone.

Plop.

Her feet moved at their own volition, inching toward the sound that called to her like a snake charmer’s flute.

Chime.

Clare stopped, her eyes lifting toward the sky from whence the sound had come. Large charcoal eyes stared down at her from above.

“I’ve been waiting, Clare Luna.”

“Mikelo.”

The smile that grazed his features sent fear and something else coursing through her. She moved away, one-step at a time, barely registering the impressive jump that landed him at her feet.

“Clare.” Mikelo extended a pale hand toward her and she stopped as if commanded. Her pulse was erratic and the mark in her shoulder throbbed as she searched his face. She remembered him now. The young boy with eyes as dark as the night that shone as bright as the stars.

“What do you want?”

“Don’t you remember me, little Luna?” She flinched at the hurt in his voice but shook her head. His smile died and his voice took an edge that made goose bumps appear on her flesh. He knew she was lying. “We had a deal.”

“I was a child,” she blurted.

“As was I, my little white moon, as was I, but a blood promise is a blood promise.”

“I can’t.” Tears filled her eyes. How could she have forgotten the promise?

“Hush, my little Luna.”

Abruptly, Mikelo was there, his hands wrapping around her and pulling her into a comforting hug that scared her more than the knowledge that he was not of this world. She wanted to break off the embrace, to run from him but his presence was overwhelming, the touch of his fingers threading through her hair and scattering the pins there, soothing.

“I will protect you, Clare Luna. There is nothing to fear.”

“You—“Clare glanced up at him, avoiding staring at the horns that grew at the top of his head and curved back to lie against his long white hair. A tear slipped from the corner of her eye and Mikelo gathered it with his thumb, the clear liquid dancing over the calloused digit like magic. He brought it to his lips and kissed it away.

“You cried that day too,” he whispered.

“How could I not? You were going to kill me.” Clare attempted to move away but Mikelo held her tightly, his dark gaze boring into her.

“Not I, little Luna, my people.”

“But—“ She beseeched him with her eyes. He had to let her go.

“You made a promise, Clare,” he said, his tone unexpectedly rough.

“I was a child,” she repeated, knowing it was futile.

Mikelo shrugged. “You were bound to me that day. You will obey that promise or –“

“I will die,” she whimpered.

“Yes.”
