The Sour Green Apple Martini

By Anne Lange

A few years ago, during a business trip, myself and a couple of colleagues decided to hit a Vodka bar.  We had nothing better to do ;)

Let’s just say it was one of the best nights, because I was introduced to the vodka martini. Never had one before. I didn’t know what I was missing. You know, they go down…reaaaaalllll easy.  And you can have one anywhere. They’re fantastic by the pool, as a pre-dinner drink, with friends. They’re an all season drink. Just so versatile. :)

At this Vodka Bar we had martinis of various flavors, appetizers and mini sandwiches that had vodka in their somewhere and then some pierogies in a divine cherry vodka sauce. And of course we finished it off with some martini shooters.

Then we went to a jazz bar and had more martinis.  There, I had my first sour green apple martini. OMG.  I fell in love. I can’t really tell you how many I had. I’ll just say, the next day was little rough. Okay, more than a little rough. But it was well worth it.  This fabulous little drink can be gone in seconds, it’s that good. Which, I guess accounts for the rough following day.

There are plenty of ways to make this little baby, so I thought I’d share three of the variations with you.

Apple Martini #1 recipe
·         2 oz citrus vodka
·         ½ oz Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps
·         ½ oz orange liquer
·         ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
Assemble all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake well with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, garnish with a slice of apple, and serve.

Apple Martini #2 recipe
·         1 oz Smirnoff Green Apple Twist Vodka
·         1 oz Melon Liqueur
·         1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into cocktail glass, and serve.

Apple Martini #3 recipe
·         1 oz Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps
·         1 oz Smirnoff Apple Vodka
·         1 oz Apple Juice

Chill a champagne or cocktail glass. Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Strain into glass and serve.

About Anne:

Shoes are her addiction, but books are her passion.  Anne Lange grew up with a love for reading. If you take a close look, she’s got either a book, her Kindle or her Kobo—maybe all three—tucked into her bag or a pocket when she leaves the house. You know, just in case there’s time to sneak in a chapter or ten.  Anne reads many genres of romance, but prefers to write sexy stories, often with a dash of humor, and usually with a side of those sinful pleasures your mom never told you about.

Oh, and always a happily ever after.

While embarking on this wild journey of becoming a romance author, Anne juggles a full time job and a family. Not always successfully. Who needs a clean house every day?  And what’s wrong with cereal for dinner? She lives in Ontario, Canada with her wonderfully supportive husband, three awesome kids who are growing up way too fast, and Rocky the bearded dragon.
