“I live near here, it’s a ten-fifteen
minute walk.” She frowned. “We haven’t spoken about it, but well, you’ll be
spending the night, right?”
Max shook his head.
“No, kitten, I’m merely going to walk
you home.”
She stiffened.
“That won’t be necessary,” she said,
her tone clipped.
“Eva.” Max grasped her chin, gently
forcing her to look at him. “Kitten, don’t be mad; I want to sleep with you,
just not yet. I’d like to know you better before we become intimate.”
