Weekend Writing Warriors from A Tempest of Passion #shifters #regencyromance

Happy Sunday, everyone! and Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there!

Quarantine has finally gotten to me an I've dyed my hair. Hahaha. It was supposed to be a reddish brown but it's turned out a darker shade than I would have liked. Hopefully it'll fade soon.

If you still haven't joined my Facebook group, make sure you stop by. I'm holding a special Mother's Day Giveaway there.

Last but obviously not least, on to today's snippet. I've jumped a few lines but we're still in the same scene as last week. Made some changes to keep to the Weekend Writing Warriors guidelines.

Enjoy!

“Mr. Dalton, I am indebted to you for I do not know what came over me last night, but I have been told that my well-being is your responsibility.  I am most grateful for your assistance.”

William smiled broadly, the motion pulling the mark beneath his eye. Emily’s breath caught and she curled her hands into tight balls at her side, aghast against the unexpected urge to touch that blemished flesh.

“It was but my duty to rescue you from the cold, heartless floor, Ms. Bunsbury,” William said with a jovial grin. Clasping his hands behind his back, he waited for her to say something.

Emily only clamped her jaws together, desperately searching for words. Speechless.  Only one other time in her life had she been unable to speak under a man’s gaze, and back then she had been but a naïve girl of ten and eight years. Now, she was twenty and eight years, a wiser woman who knew what a perusal like the one Mr. Dalton gave her meant. He was like all others: thoughtless to a woman’s desires and mind, only curious to what lay beneath skirts and petticoats.

A Tempest of Passion

Emily Bunsbury is most definitely not a fainter. She prefers to leave that sort of shenanigans to young debutants and to those desperate to land a husband. She is neither.

Except last night she passed out and was rescued by none other than the town’s most eligible bachelor: William Dalton. Of course, she wants nothing to do with him, but her heart and body don’t seem to be in agreement…
Banished from his pack for a crime he did not commit, William Dalton does not have the desire or the time to court women, yet, when he meets Emily Bunsbury he is incapable of staying away. Certain that it is nothing more than a passing fancy and not the mating pull, he pursues her.
However, as the unknown threat that expelled him from his pack strikes again, William realizes that Emily means much more and he must keep her safe. Now, if only she’d agree to his terms…
As danger grows with each passing day, will the couple learn to trust each other or will their love be nothing more than a temporary tempest of passion?

Weekend Writing Warriors from A Tempest of Passion #shifters #regencyromance

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy.

In case anyone is interested, I've created a Facebook group. You can find the link to join at the bottom of the post.

On to today's snippet! Since everyone seemed to enjoy last week's snippet from A Tempest of Passion, I'm continuing more or less from where we left off. Her servant has left her alone with Mr. Dalton and they're holding a bit of a staring contest...

Enjoy!

He was watching her, like a dog deciding what end of the bone to chew on first. Irked, she stared back. William Dalton’s features had no finesse, to be honest, he reminded her of a wild dog. His hair was unruly and too long, the lines of his face were angular and rough. His lips were too wide, his nose too narrow and his left cheek disfigured by an ugly pink scar extending from below his eye to the edge of his mouth. Then there was the matter of his eyes. Dark and unreadable, they had an air about them that spoke of a man with little joy in his life. Emily shuddered. It mattered little to her that this was the man that had “saved” her last night. It was time for him to leave.

Weekend Writing Warriors from A Tempest of Passion #shifters #regencyromance

Happy Sunday, everyone!

How are you all holding up? I'm doing well, though working more on the day job than usual and finding little time to write.

In any case, today I'm sharing a snippet from an oldie: A Tempest of Passion.

Enjoy! Stafe Safe!

Careless of manners, Emily sank back onto the window bench. Suddenly, she did feel poorly––her heart beat too fast, and her hands were cold and clammy. Emily stared at Mr. Dalton as he straightened his posture. She shivered. William Dalton was by no means the most handsome man she had ever set eyes on … but there was something about him that unnerved her.
“Thank you, Gertrude,” she said, finding her voice at last. “Close the door.”
“But, Ms. Bunsbury––”
Emily resisted the urge to roll her eyes. When would they learn that she was past her prime?

Book Spotlight on The Elder Man by Katherine Wyvern #MMRomance #MustRead

Thank you so much for hosting me today with my new release, The Elder Man. This story is very close to my heart, and to my life!

Over two years ago I made a drawing of my favorite model as an antlered forest god.  It sat quietly in my album for almost 12 months, but it kept pushing invisible roots all over my soul, until suddenly last year, this story began to write itself. It was light and sexy and full of humor (poking fun at city people baffled by the countryside is my revenge for how befuddling the city is to me!) but I soon became aware that there was more to it than met the eye.
In fact it became a tapestry of all the things I love most in my life, my barely tamed garden and my woods, my animals, my sculpting and natural building, my simple, off grid lifestyle, and the beauty and antiquity of the Dordogne, the region in SW France where I have been living for almost 10 years. I wanted to give a face to the bone-deep magic that I see and feel in all this.
My forgotten but still powerful forest god is the form I chose to express all that is wondrous, healing and grounding in my life.
Or maybe *he* chose me, and did his own thing. My characters notoriously tend to do that.
I did a number of illustrations, at different times, for this story, and I am delighted that one of them found its way to the cover of the book, thanks to Jay Aheer and Evernight Publishing. You can see them all on my blog, here: https://katherinewyvern.blogspot.com/2020/04/the-art-of-elder-man-coming-tomorrow.html

BLURB:
Uncovering and divulging  an outlandish conspiracy will put a hard bump into any journalist’s career, and Armin can only blame himself when he’s dispatched from Frankfurt’s skyscrapers into the depths of rural France on the unglamorous job of writing about a cobbing workshop.
Natural building is messy, dirty and sweaty work, but it has its consolations. For example, Van, the greying but undeniably hot master cobber teaching the workshop. Sure, the man is a hopeless tree-hugger, with embarrassing notions about ancient folklore and religions, but he’s still worth a week-long fling, right?
When Van is revealed in all his majesty and power as a long forgotten forest god, however, the week-long fling might well become entangled with eternity, on the edge between life, death, madness, and immortality.

OFFICIAL TEASER (graphic sex alert):
Armin started undressing there and then and pulling at Van’s clothes.
“Um, can I brush my teeth at least?” asked Van, laughing.
“Nope.”
Van found himself dragged bodily toward the bedroom. He was still wearing his jeans, which were unbuttoned and sliding down to his knees. He couldn’t stop laughing.
“Okay, okay, I’m right here,” he said between kisses. He tried to either shed his trousers or hold them up so as not to fall flat on his face on the hard stone steps, but he didn’t manage to do either because Armin was all over him like an octopus.
They finally stumbled up the corridor and through the bedroom door and into the bed, and Van found himself pinned down with his ankles tangled in his jeans and Armin’s hand in his crotch, inside his boxers, and his head lodged awkwardly between two pillows.
“Look, honey,” he said, “I’m all yours. But I need to … let me…” He writhed about under Armin’s panting body and finally managed to kick off those damn trousers and then get rid of his underwear.
“Shit, things were easier when we wore nothing but a loincloth and a bit of paint.”
Armin sank his face into his neck, laughing.
“You say these stupid things all the time. Like you are twenty thousand years old or something.”
“Um, well, give or take…”
“Shut up,” said Armin, kissing him deep and long, rubbing the front of his body on Van’s. Armin was buck naked and already hard and ready.
Goodness me, what have I done to this young man? he thought.
Van had a passing recollection of the day Armin had arrived, so downcast and subdued and almost paralyzed with shyness. He smiled in the dark and arched to meet Armin’s body, feel his cock on his own.
Van knew that if he got another rough ride like yesterday, he’d need painkillers to get through the next day.
He was on fire to love Armin again, to share everything, every ounce of flesh, to the bone, and if it had not been a workshop week, he’d have let himself be fucked blind again and spend the day in bed tomorrow, come hell or high water.
But with the last day of the workshop looming, he thought this eager young buck needed to be steered in a different direction.
Hell, am I really growing old? he thought. He didn’t feel old, least of all with Armin’s quick young body in his arms, but perhaps he was not quite as supple as he used to be. That’s the trouble with a middle-aged human body. Damn this mortal flesh.
“Would—you—let me…” he whispered in brief bursts between hungry kisses, and he ran a finger deep in the crack of Armin’s butt. The young man arched into his arms, his back quivering.
“Yes,” he said, half word, half breath, before pushing his tongue into Van’s ear, as if words were not enough to express his longing.
“You can suit yourself if you like,” Van whispered, lying down flat on his back, inviting Armin to straddle his body.
“Oh, I like, I like a lot,” whispered the young man, smiling and palming Van’s cock to gauge his erection.

****

Armin
He was quite happy to fuck or be fucked, but he had never done both with the same man. He was amazed and enchanted and almost a little humbled. Jonas had been an absolute bottom, and it was at least two years since Armin had had anything in his ass not made of steel or silicon.
He fumbled around, switched on a bedside light, and opened that little surprising drawer again. He rolled a condom down Van’s cock and slathered it with lube.
Armin kissed him and stroked Van hard again and lowered himself by degrees onto his lap, moaning softly as that warm, slippery living glans parted his ring by degrees and then slithered inside his body, such an intimate intrusion that he almost wept with emotion. It was so easy to fuck and be fucked that one could easily forget what an incredible disclosure of love and trust it could be. He took a long breath, and another, pleasure and pain and emotion clashing for an almost unbearable minute. Then the pleasure washed over him in mounting waves at every careful, deepening thrust as he filled himself with Van’s length and his own cock grew stiffer and bounced softly on Van’s stomach. After the crazy hurry and urgency of just a few minutes earlier, he had to pace himself, give his ass time to adjust around the girth of Van’s cock, and move slowly, with infinite tenderness, for himself, and for Van. It was really, really difficult.
Van seemed quite happy though.
“Oh, honey,” he said, dreamily. He lay quite flat, his arms over his head and a lazy smile on his lips.
He was not so much fucking him as letting Armin take his own pleasure out of him, offering himself to Armin’s need. Armin wondered if he was always so … not submissive exactly, but giving.
He went a little crazy inside as he worked his ass in waves and tight circles on Van’s hard cock, rooted onto his body, spread wide and full inside and hard in front, all at the same time. It was so much pleasure all at once, almost too much, and yet still not enough. He wanted to say something absurd like, Take me hard, please yourself, fuck me like a whore, but he had never gotten the hang of delivering dirty talk with any panache, and the mere thought made him laugh a little. Van stirred and smiled tenderly, caressing his thighs and gently digging his thumbs at the base of his cock, kneading, so that Armin’s erection stiffened and rose a little higher.
“What’s funny?” he asked softly.
“Nothing,” said Armin, but he was still smiling, delirious with happiness

Book Spotlight on To Be His (Gateway Ranch) by C.R. Moss #contemporary #romanticsuspense @CRMoss

Thank you for having me on your blog! I’m happy to share with you and your readers my latest release.
First is some information about the series and the book…

About the Series
Nestled within the hills of central Texas is a special ranch. A place that defies the laws of physics—that of time, space, and dimensions. It’s a place where normal morphs with the paranormal and supernatural. A place that seems to know what a person’s true desires and needs are, and then allows the right circumstances to occur to fulfill those wishes.
Welcome to the Gateway Ranch.
Your gateway to all things possible…
About the Book

To Be His by C.R. Moss
I’m Professor Arianna Perez, and I’ve been asked if I’ll ever trust, let alone love, another man again. After dumping an abusive boyfriend, I doubted I would. At least, that’s how I felt until fate had sexy wrangler, Gavin Bishop, reappearing in my life in a way I never expected.
Against my better judgement, I fell hard for the cowboy, believing everything he said, including how he wanted to treat me like a queen and keep me safe. Little did I know, though, that the circumstances that brought us together could also tear us apart…
And possibly claim my life.

Now a peek into the story…
Excerpt for To Be His by C.R. Moss

As Gavin made sure they were secured behind the gates with plenty of water and some hay and feed, I strolled down the center walkway. Two horses had been left behind from the morning’s rides, but they didn’t seem too upset. I cooed at them as I passed by. When I arrived at the end, I peeked down the left row and the right one, taking in all the tack and saddles hanging on the wall and lining the workbenches on either side of a few doorways.
“Ari? You okay?”
“Yes, just being nosy,” I replied and turned to head back over to Gavin, who happened to be leaning up against one of the empty stalls next to the horse, Ebony, I’d ridden. He’d hooked his thumbs into the belt loops of his jeans and had one booted foot up against the door. The tilt of his head and hat cast shadows, nicely shading the angles and planes of his face. Dust from the trail coated his boots and some of his clothes.
Perfectly rugged and sexy.
The artist in me wished I’d brought sketching materials along so I could capture the moment. Or better yet have kept my phone on me. I could have snapped a picture and then painted him later in the privacy of my own space where I could let my fantasies flow free.
A slight movement on his part revealed his eyes. The intense, direct stare of his gaze made me question my decision to roam the building. Unsure of the nearby exits, I glanced away from him and closed my eyes.
I had to fight the panic sprouting within me. Ever since childhood, when my friends and I almost couldn’t escape a theater during an emergency, not knowing escape routes tended to give me anxiety. Chad hadn’t helped either. When his treatment grew rougher, I always tried to make sure I had a way to leave. Not knowing if a doorway leading to the outside was behind me or not made me antsy.
Gavin’s not that lying cheater Chad. Gavin wouldn’t hurt me.
But did I really know that for sure?
Slowly, I turned my head and opened my eyes. An empty stall containing what looked to be fresh hay sitting in a pile in the back corner caught my attention. The ground appeared to have been cleaned.
Fighting the urge to run, I looked back at him.
His gaze had grown passionate, and his lips had curled into a rakish smile.
My heart fluttered. My knees went weak. The atmosphere seemed electrified.
Any hints of anxiety were swept away due to the sensual magnetism pulsating between us, and all my thoughts fled. Save for one.
What would it be like to have a roll in the hay?

“Her.”
He ground out the words, unable to tear his gaze from the pair. The man tugged the woman by the hand. She walked a step behind him, twisting the strap of her purse and keeping her head bowed.  Fear rolled off in waves from her. Sisu growled. His teeth pricked his bottom lip as they transformed. The wolf within him howled in victory.

“Sisu.” Lee grasped his forearm in a punishing grip. “I don’t know what the fuck is happening, but I can imagine, look at me.”

A couple walked into the room. The man was tall, scrawny, and reeked of human, but the woman was something different. His mouth watered. Even within the hundreds of smells permeating Moon Point, he could pick out her scent. Sweet, like ripe strawberries. Tempting, like fresh mango fruit. He sniffed the air. There was something else, musky, piquant, delicious.  The wolf within him surged, slamming against his chest. What the hell?

Excerpt

She gives me a long, languorous look. I think I know what it means: She’s interested by my wild side. Dark attracts dark. She believes she’s found the same kind of fallen angel as she is, a soul mate. Wrong, kiddo. What you need is someone good, not broken like me. She reaches over the table to pat my chest. “So hard. Jesus. You definitely work out.” Her touch sends electric sparks to my groin. My cock pulses. I push her hand away. “Don’t do that.” “Why?” “It’s inappropriate.” “Why?” I sigh. “I’m thirty-two, you’re what?” “Nineteen.” “Nineteen, that’s very young. I could easily be accused of taking advantage of you. Did you see how the waitress treated me?” She crosses her arms underneath her boobs. “But I’m an adult, and I have boyfriends.” “You have boyfriends.” “Yeah.” “Like, many?” “Yeah.” She holds my gaze. I don’t know why I had to make a deal of that. She continues, “So, it’s not like I’d let anybody touch me if I didn’t want them to.” “Well, I don’t want you to touch me. Let’s go.”

About the author

Lea Bronsen likes her reads hot, fast, and edgy, and strives to give her own stories the same intensity. After a deep dive on the unforgiving world of gangsters with her debut novel Wild Hearted, she divides her writing time between romantic suspenses, dark erotic romances, and crime thrillers.

Weekend Writing Warrior from Spread (Lust, Love and Darkness) #BDSM #DarkRomance

Hi everyone! Happiest and healthiest Sunday to all. I've been missing out on Weekend Writing Warriors not only due to the stress of the situation but also because if you guys recall my computer was giving me a lot of problems, so doing more than the minimum on it was taking eons. Luckily, I have a great sister who lent me the money to buy a new laptop, so I'm back!

Today, I'm sharing a snippet from Spread (Lust, Love and Darkness) which is nominated for book of the month at The TBR Pile (any votes much appreciated). I've been working on book 3 and I hope to have it finished soon. Madrid is on lockdown, but I'm working from home which is eating up a lot of my free time.

Stay safe and enjoy reading!

Hands trembling, she put on her headphones and opened the music app on her phone. The loud rock riffs surrounded her, obliterating every sound from the exterior but still incapable of shutting down the turmoil in her brain. She grabbed a handful of cereal and stuffed it into her mouth. The crunch mingled with the melody, but still she couldn’t keep him at bay.  Antonio.  His name flashed in her subconscious. Loud. Bold. Present when he should be gone. Her stomach clenched, and she belched, acid bile rising to the back of her throat.  “Fuck.” She knew this would happen.

Book Spotlight on To Be Yours (Gateway Ranch) by C.R. Moss #paranormal #romance

Today is my release day for To Be Yours!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* An eccentric and eclectic writer, C.R. Moss pens stories for the mainstream and erotic romance markets, giving readers a choice of sweet, savory or spicy reads, usually within a sub-genre or two — paranormal, sci-fi/fantasy, time travel, or western flare. She also has a passion for penning dark fiction. Writing as Casey Moss, she delves into the darker aspects of life in her work, sometimes basing the stories on reality, sometimes on myth. No matter the path, her stories will take you on a journey from the lighthearted paranormal to dark things unspeakable. What waits around the corner? Come explore…
A look into...
~ About the Series ~
* Nestled within the hills of central Texas is a special ranch. A place that defies the laws of physics—that of time, space, and dimensions. It’s a place where normal morphs with the paranormal and supernatural. A place that seems to know what a person’s true desires and needs are, and then allows the right circumstances to occur to fulfill those wishes.
* Welcome to the Gateway Ranch.
* Your gateway to all things possible…
~ About the Book ~
* Katrina Foster has survived a life no one dreams about and most don’t want to know about. Escaping to a ranch in Texas she used to visit during the summers of her childhood and rekindling an old relationship with Dakota Remington, she hopes to leave the nightmare of her past behind her. At first, all seems well, but when strange things begin to happen, she wonders if history’s about to repeat itself.
* Dakota Remington has devoted his life to working at Gateway Ranch. He’s excited when Kat, his former sweetheart, returns and looks forward to reuniting with her. He finds she’s changed, though, and he’s not sure if it’s for the better. But he’s up for the challenge of the puzzle that is Kat.
~ Excerpt ~
* The hard composite of her firearm shifted against her lower back.
* Well, if push comes to shove, I can protect myself. I’ll shoot the bastard if he shows up and tries anything.
* Eventually, her nerves calmed enough so she could move without feeling ill.
* She rose and stripped out of her clothes, put her weapon on the counter, then stepped into the shower. The hard and hot spray beat on her, helping her to feel something other than worry about potential rumors or her ex finding her. Kat bowed her head, placed her hands above the faucets. The water sluiced down her hair, cascaded in wide streams over her back. More time passed. Relaxed and clear headed, she finished her shower and was about to open the door when a thud and click sounded on the other side.
* Gripping the towel wrapped around her body, she snatched her weapon, opened the door, and cautiously looked out into the room.
* Dakota lounged on the bed, one leg bent, his hat propped on that leg’s knee. His hair stuck up in clumpy spikes. He ran a dirty hand through his dark brown locks.
* Kat released a pent-up breath, lowered her weapon, and placed the Glock on a counter next to the bathroom door. “How’d you get in here?”
* Tired eyes gazed at her. “I’m manager on duty while the Taggerts are away, ’member? Got a bunch of master keys.” Dak held up the ring of them. “You okay? When you didn’t come back, I got worried.”
* “I’m fine. I think the humidity got to me. Along with the dirt.”
* “Sure. The humidity. You tell me that you’re afraid a man is going to come after you, or rather us. We hear about the vehicle. You turn white as one of our ghosts and run off. Who was in the car, Kat?”
* “Hell if I know. I’ve been with you all day. I didn’t see the fancy black car or who was in it.”
* “You don’t have a clue as to who was in the car? I’m not buying it.”
* “Buy it or don’t.” She crossed her arms over her stomach. “I really don’t know. It could have been Nero. It could have been his goons. It could have been a neighbor of yours or one of the party guests Kent mentioned. I. Wasn’t. There. I. Didn’t. See.”
* Dakota flung himself off the bed and slammed the hat on his head. “Get dressed. You’ll come with me while I get cleaned up then we’ll go hang out in the rec hall.”
* “You know what, Dak? I appreciate the Boy Scout approach, and how you’re trying to get a merit badge for babysitting, but all I want is to lie down and take a nap.”
* “Kat, please. I’m hot, dirty, and tired. I don’t want to argue.” He strode to the door. “Get dressed so we can get going.” His gaze flashed darkly, roamed over her with an appraising glance. A slow grin tipped up the corner of his lips.
