Wednesday Briefs: Your Hump Day Dose of Flash Fiction

Hello readers! With December Tingles all done last week, I didn’t know what to write until I jokingly told my sister “Wouldn’t it be nice to get an email saying you’d won the lottery?” Well, the email idea brought another one and I’ve started out this piece, which, honestly, I don’t know where it is heading (thus the horrible title) but it looks like it's on the road toward the paranormal. Oh, by the way, I used picture prompts and included 2 of them into the story.

Enjoy, and as always don’t forget to stop by the other Briefers blogs to read more awesome tales.(links below!)

Clare

It all started with that email, an email with a few words and a black and white picture of her street.

Subject: Clare

There are things you should know
The distance between us seems to grow
But you're holding on strong
Oh how hard it's to let go, oh so hard to let go

She should have spooked. She should have gone to the police, the FBI or someone. She should have just erased it. She shouldn’t have even opened an email like that.

She didn’t. Perhaps she’d been lonely for too long, or perhaps she’d finally gone mad like everyone said she eventually would, but Clare replied to the email.

Subject: RE: Clare

I'm waiting for your call and I'm ready to take your six six six in my heart

Thus, it began.

Every night she’d log on to her laptop to see an email from him. The subject never changed. The sender never altered. For weeks, she received an email with an image and a few words. The pictures were all related to her in some way: the street, her work place, the park she had to walk through every day, the subway station, her favorite coffee shop, the clothes store she liked to browse…The words belonged to lyrics of her favorite songs.  Music that touched her soul and meant something to her, words that she knew by heart and loved.

She took it as a game. One of those addictive puzzles people got obsessed with, like Sudoku’s or Angry Birds. It was their little thing. He introduced the song and she’d complete it. She didn’t realize it at first, but as the days sped by she discovered herself looking for him in shadows, wondering, where he was and how he could snap those pictures. He had to know her habits, had to know her routine. It should have scared the living daylights out of her. Instead, she found it charming, fun. She had her own personal stalker. Any person with a right mind would have already gone to the police. She waited for his next message. It arrived as it always did, around midnight. The witching hour, her mom would probably say with disapproval.
Excitement coursed through her as she clicked open the message. She stared.

Subject: Clare

I'm waiting for you to open your arms.

She knew that rusty iron door. Knew the jungle of leaves behind which it hid, knew the cracks in that grey brick wall. She shivered as unpleasant memories filled her mind. Her gaze dropped to the words: I'm waiting for you to open your arms. They belonged to a song titled “It’s all Tears”. An omen?

Clare hesitated, for the first time. Her fingers poised over the keyboard as she contemplated on replying or not.Her heart skipped to her throat and she jumped slightly in her seat as the chime of her inbox startled her.

Automatically, her hand grasped her mouse and she scrolled over to see what had arrived.

Subject: Open your arms and let me show you what love can be like

Taking a deep breath, she clicked it open.

Love doesn’t come without pain but I promise not to shred your heart.

Mikelo

She gaped at her screen. Her pulse was erratic and nerves fluttered in her stomach and over her chest. Those were not the words to any song. She swallowed. Her gaze froze over the name below the promise: Mikelo. The rules of the game had changed.

To be continued...

As a side note, the lyrics above do belong to real songs. They’re from my favorite band ever, Finnish Love Metal band, HIM. The first one is titled “Your Sweet Six, Six, Six” and you can listen to it here. The second one is “It’s all Tears” and you can have a go at it here

Sing along with me

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Yesterday, The Mercenary Slave was released! In my happy-induced state I started singing the Neil Diamond song "Solitary Man" with a different verse. Below, I've pasted the HIM version of the song which is much more upbeat (and metal) with my own very particular lyrics. Come on, sing along with me:

Wybert was fine
'Til the time
That they bound him
Holding him
hurting Him

Then he came along
Loved him strong
That's what he thought
Melassar and Wybert
That worked cool

Don't know that he will
But until he can find him
The boy who will stay
And won't play games behind him
he'll be what he is
A Mercenary Slave
A Mercenary Slave

He’s had it to here - being where love's a small world
A part time thing
A paper ring
he know it's been done havin' one boy who loves you
Right or wrong
Weak or strong
Don't know that he will but until  he can find him
A boy who will stay and won't play games behind him
he'll be what he is
A Mercenary Slave
A Mercenary Slave

Don't know that he will but until  he can find him
A boy who'll stay and won't play games behind him
he'll be what he is
A Mercenary Slave
A Mercenary Slave

Sticks, huh? Well, while you chant the song allow me to tell you some more news. I'll be visiting several blogs throughout the following weeks. For instance, today I'm stopping at Raven's Ramblings. On Friday, I'll be at Carolyn Rosewood's and on Saturday at Lorraine Nelson's. Next week, I'll hop by Adonis Devereux's (Giveaway alert!) and Kaytlyn Williams. Also, on the 31st I have a scheduled chat at the Love Romance Yahoo Group, so come on over and chat with me!  Finally, come don't forget to visit the blog tomorrow! Author Nephylim is stopping by, telling us a little about herself and giving away two of her books!

Remember that you can get your copy of The Mercenary Slave at Evernight Publishing, Amazon.com, Amazon.uk, All Romance Ebooks or other retailers!

I haven't been able to write anything for this week's Wednesday Brief but other amazing authors have...

Thursday Melodies

Greetings everyone! How is the week going by?

In my attempt to make this a more active blog today I'm starting something which I've titled "Thursday Melodies". The name almost speaks for itself. Every Thursday I'll post a song that I consider is good for "setting the mood". The moods will vary.

Today, I'll start with something sweet. It's a song by the Finnish band HIM, titled "You are the one". I think if I ever were to get married this song would play in my wedding. Enjoy!

Voices that make your legs shake

I'm still fighting off those exams, but I just had to get a little writing done and stop by to say hello to you all.
This morning I was cleaning the house accompanied with some music and I got to thinking about voices. People's appearances are important but so are voices. I remember this one time on the subway a really cute boy got on the same train I was riding on. He was quite a sight! But then, all the illusion wore off as soon as he opened his mouth to speak. What a disappointment. His voice was horrible! High pitched and squeaky it totally ruined the effect of his good looks.

Just like some voices are a turn off some voices are a total turn on. They're the sort of voice that reverberate through your body. The sort of voice that whispered in your ear makes your hair stand on end and causes a shiver to run down your spine. The kind of voice that reaches into your core and makes desire unfurl.
Of course, each person has his own preference...I think I go more for the deep, sultry, husky, velvety...

Anyhow, as I swept away the dust I thought about a few singers which have that voice...the sort of voice that makes you shudder with anticipation. This is my selection.
How about yours? What sort of voice turns you on?

1. Ville Valo from HIM. What a voice, that deep timbre.., it makes goosebumps rise on my skin. All HIM song's are great, but this one is a keeper, it is a song to make love to all night long.

2. Jape VonCrow from To Die For. I don't know what it is about this man's voice that it just turns me on. I think it might be the accent behind it...I'm not sure, it just happens.

3. Peter Steele from Type O Negative. Unfortunately, Peter passed away last year. He was a great musician and will be sorely missed, but his music is still there and his voice is just primeval.

*I wanted to post this other video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sMALbhJU6M but embedding is not allowed. I suggest you check it out if you have a chance ;-)

4. Ville Laihiala from Poisonblack (ex Sentenced). I wanted you guys to hear a beautiful song he sings with Negative singer, Jonne Aaron, but I can't find it on YouTube. Nonetheless, what I love from this Ville is that husky quality his voice has.

5. Originally as number 5 I was going to post JP from Charon and this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNkQvxPsBlo but embedding is once again disabled, so I'm posting this one from Beseech, sung by Erik Molarin. Not only is his voice a turn on, but listen carefully to the song...and the way he rolls those 'r's in Erotica...yummy!

Sometimes...

Sometimes you feel that your body is too heavy, you can't take it anymore, your mind is going to burst...and then you hear it. The first few notes of a song and something awakens inside you...there are things worth living for after all.

note: I'm still studying for exams. My mom got an operation last Tuesday. Everthing went well, she's back home, although still feeling ill, of course.

Well, well...

I'm trying to use this new "followers" gadget, and I just can't get it to work! Which is quite annoying, because I want to add: http://menagerieauthors.blogspot.com/ to my reading list.
I'll have to give it another try tomorrow.
I'm exhausted so just to add a little spice to this journal (truth is I got the idea from the above journal, but hey, a good idea is a good idea), I'm going to add a picture of one of my favorite men:
Ville Hermanni Valo lead singer of HIM (that's my favorite music band). He's got one hell of a sexy voice, not to mention those eyes...

Oh, what the hell, I can't go to bed and not add a music video from the fabulous group this man leads. The first time I heard HIM I was listening to the radio, and at that precise moment I fell in love with his voice and the music behind it. Ever since then...well, let's just say that HIM have been with me through some hard moments...life is worth it, if only to listen to good music.
PRETENDING: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YzYOQGO4O4

By the way anyone have any idea how to add youtube videos here?
